£50 in Amazon gift cards for opening an Amazon Barclaycard credit card (ends 09/04/2026)

I saw Martin's show last week and applied through my Amazon account. Got accepted from Barclaycard almost instantly as I've got a good credit history. The £40 appeared in my Amazon account straight away but it's telling me I need a Code to redeem it. Is this posted out to you? Thanks.

Have you held any Barclays accounts in the past?

My wife had received her card but the app still wouldn't accept her phone number. We called them and got it sorted by updating the number they had for her.

We had Barclays current accounts which were closed in 2024 - these both had my telephone number. Despite Amazon and the Barclaycard application form having her correct number, they were doing the match against her obsolete account.

We had tried putting my number in the app for her but it rejected this as my number was already linked to my new Amazon Barclaycard.

There should be no need to do anything, it is added as a credit to your balance the same as any gift card. No codes needed to spend it.

I have a long standing '25 year' Barclay rewards credit card which I will not give up. Can I apply for the Amazon Barclay card without loosing my existing card.

I’ve just registered for this and got the £40 but now struggling to activate it in the Barclays app, I can’t see anywhere telling you how to do this! I don’t currently have any other Barclays products so not registered for the app. I did the verify identity, perhaps incorrectly and now stuck in needing an appointment. Surely that’s not right?!! Help!!

No luck with this one for me. I have had the same Barclaycard for around 20 years. My request to switch to the Amazon card was declined. I rang them to ask and they suspect its because Ive not used it in over 6 months. An appeal has been submitted but I don't think it will be processed in time to benefit from this offer. I will be a bit annoyed if they do switch it over after the offer has expired though. Should have acted sooner.

The terms are "apply by 9th April". If your appeal is successful I would be expecting the full £50 in vouchers.

Have you actually applied through the link in the OP for a new Amazon Barclaycard? I would think this is a requirement for the offer.

Or have you contacted Barclaycard requesting a switch from your Barclaycard to a new Amazon Barclaycard? Can they even do this? Do Amazon Barclaycard applications not have to be applied for via your Amazon account?

Thanks. Yes I applied through the link here with the stated offer, this then took me to the Barclays app, which then declined the switch and posted me to call them and discuss it.

Good point about applying before the 9th, maybe it doesn't matter how long the appeal takes as technically I have met the conditions.

I realise that I have had a positive balance of £22 due to a refund ages ago so their system may not like that.

So do you currently have both the Barclaycard and Amazon Barclaycard? You can only have one as far as I'm aware but they won't allow you to switch from the Barclaycard to the Amazon Barclaycard?

Or they detected that you already have a Barclaycard when applying and redirected you to the Barclays app as they couldn't approve you to have a second Barclaycard, but aren't allowing you to switch Barclaycards, so haven't been approved (yet) for the Amazon Barclaycard?

Yes, once your application is in on or before 9th April, it doesn't matter when you're approved, so it allows time for people declined the card to appeal and if successful they can still get the £50 in gift cards.

"Apply by 9th April to get a £40 Amazon gift card if approved …" rather than "Apply and be approved by 9th April …". Nothing there says when you have to be approved to get the £50 in gift cards.
