This offer has now ended, however you can now get a £20 Amazon gift card for applying on or after 10th April 2026 and being accepted + a £10 Amazon gift card for activating the card in the app.

This seems like a fairly simple offer. Apply for an Amazon Barclaycard through your Amazon account and if accepted you get a £40 Amazon gift card. Activate your card in the app and get a £10 Amazon gift card. Ends 9th April 2026. Offer has ended.

You can check your eligibility before submitting your application, which involves a soft credit check.

No other conditions, you can close the account after receiving your gift cards. No spend required.

Shame there’s no ApplePay for this card, which is a must for me, and which I do have on my existing Barclaycard 😭

It also comes with 1% cashback on Amazon purchases (boosted for Prime members on "special" buying events).

Never did check if paying the fee for Prime with this card attracts cashback (because < £1).

Once you get your gift cards you can cancel the card. You never have to use it. Or you could just use it for Amazon purchases and get some cashback.

I had it set up as the default (and only) payment method on my Amazon account for this reason.

Then after hearing a couple of stories of unauthorised takeovers/spends on (fully secured with 2FA and passkey) accounts I've reverted to a Clubcard+ with a fiver on it.

I became aware of this offer through yesterday's MSE email. Would have mentioned on The Cashback for Bank or Investment Accounts Discussion Thread, but wasn't sure it would have been appropriate there so decided to check if mentioned elsewhere.

Anyway, I decided to go for it. I already had a different Barclaycard so had to go through the switch procedure via my Barclays banking app. No issues with the eligibility check in my case, probably because of my existing Barclaycard holder status? The new card details appeared in the app almost instantly, as did the £40 and £10 vouchers in my Amazon account (without even having to authenticate the card in the app).

Probably the easiest and quickest £50 reward I've ever received. @flaneurs_lobster's comment about unauthorised debits is of some concern, although the first thing I did was to remove the new card's default payment status on Amazon. (I'm not currently subscribing to Prime, and am still receiving 1% cashback on the newish Lloyds Ultra card.)

Given that there are ~300 million Amazon accounts and something like 1.5M employees, not surprising that the occasional misfortune happens. I don't need a card with a credit limit in the high 4 figures attached to my account - rather not face the PITA of getting my money back.

Likewise had an existing Barclaycard, very straightforward to switch and all processed instantly and showing in the Barclays app. £50 in 3 mins…nice little earner (which helps offset the excess that I'm having to pay out for the windscreen replacement due to a huge stone chip on the M25 this morning).

How would I then get my 0.5% cashback on everything credit card with a £17k limit back? I’ve had that card for nearly 20 years, got a bit attached to it

if I already have 5 BC cards would I have to close all 5 to get this one?

Another question for those that have switched Barclaycards:

How does it work with the direct debit you have set up on your original card to pay off the card? Does this automatically transfer to the new card?
