I am currently on holiday and deaf, so phone calls are doubly difficult.
I have emailed them with details of their error and asked to be billed as per the rates I signed up to. So far they have rejected the fact they have made an error, even faced with the confirmation email I received showing the same rate for both day/night. I will use info in this thread to outline the details of their error when I follow up.
When I get back I can get my wife to call them if it’s not resolved by then.
Many thank to everyone. I’m sure this is what has happened.

Will do when I get back home

No need to wait.
Why not send an email to hi@eonnext.com quoting your account number and stating 'I Wish my Electricity to be Billed at Single Rate'?
Nothing to lose !

sorry, that was meant to be a reply to the ‘take a photo of your meter’ post!!

update : customer service went dark. I raised a formal complaint yesterday.
They’ve fixed my rate, backdated the billing and are giving me £40 compensation.
To swap my profile they want to charge me £157.86 for a meter exchange! So after some investigation I’ve asked them
“My Landis+Gyr smart meter is a standard 4‑terminal meter, with one MPAN and no Economy 7 wiring and I have no storage heating.
I understand my meter is currently configured as two‑rate; however the hardware itself is capable of single‑rate operation.
Please confirm why a charged meter exchange is being suggested, rather than a remote change of meter profile to single‑rate and confirm that I will not have any issues remaining on a flat‑rate tariff at my next tariff renewal.”
Will keep you posted on their reply…2 -
so, they’ve basically said it is their systems that can’t re-profile the meter and are looking to see if they can waive the exchange fee 🙄

A meter exchange at no cost to you would be a solution, albeit not the tidiest one. It would better if they could continue to take two readings but bill you at the single rate for both.
What make/model is your current meter? Is it one of the older SMETS1 ones?

Landis+Gyr E470. fitted with a WNC UBC-TN6 SKU1 cellular module Which apparently indicates it is a SMETS2 installation.
Regarding billing, eventually that’s what they end up doing, but every time I change tariff, even if I select one with the same day/night rate it reverts to an E7 tariff and, frankly, I’m fed up with the time and effort required to chase them every year and get them to fix it, so I want it resolved forever more!I’ve also heard that this issue arises when swapping suppliers too if the meter profile is wrong.

My Profile Class was recently corrected from 01 to 02 at my request as I have an E7 smart SMETS 2 meter (also Landis+Gyr E470) and the PC had inadvertently changed to 01 on their system in January 2025 (although on the National Database it was correct, 2). I was communicating with good quality E.ON Next energy specialists via the 'hi' e-mail and under a complaint.
Despite their best efforts every time they changed the PC to 02 it changed back to 01 within 24 hours (01 = single rate, even if two readings, 02 = multiple rates). Although my billing was not affected I knew that potentially this could be problematic if changing suppliers.
The resolution advised was that 'an external stakeholder' which processes 'industry messages' including the profile class had the wrong data. The external stakeholder had corrected the profile class and new messages received have had the correct value as have the subsequent billing statements' Supply Number's (MPAN) Profile Class.
I don't know if this is useful, but am letting you know just in case it is 😊
Edited typo

Landis+Gyr smart meter. standard 4‑terminal meter, with one MPAN and no Economy 7 wiring.
L+G made meters to both the SMETS standards. The original SMETS1 wasn't a very "standard" standard, and so suppliers now have difficulty sending updates to some makes/models. SMETS2 was more locked down (less scope for interpretation) and is better supported today.
If it looks like the one in this post with a separate comms hub (the bit with the flashing LEDs) attached by a cable, it's almost certainly SMETS1.
If it looks like the one in this post with the comms hub attached to the top of the meter, it's SMETS2.
