In as much as people on fixes don't normally have to their might be more doing so.

But most of the big suppliers allow a few days either side of the cap change in any case.

So I'd check what leeway your own supplier allows - google suggests a reading on 31st or 1st for ecotricity - but google AI doesn't always get things right.

And the same should be true for non smart meter fixes (which might be rarer in any case - as some firms have had agreeing to smart meters in past fixed deals)

I would of thought they are required to reduce both rates by the same ppkWh? What was the reduction on each on a ppkWh basis?

    Thats 3.003 and 2.006 respectively.

    And gas fixed.

The RO component only - found by Ildhund from old Ofgem cap spreadhseet annexes - was 2.48p ex VAT - so 2.6p inc vat

On electric the ECO was worth - 0.891+VAT = 0.94p

You appear to be getting that 2.6p roughly on an assumption of say 40% off peak split (the PC2 cap is calculated on the presumption of 42% still irrc) - and AFAIK - their is nothing forcing a flat rate (as 3x0.6+2x0.4=2.6p)

And the lower reduction on electric - and 0 on gas - potentially suggests again they were on of the suppliers not tied into the ECO scheme.

If your off peak is mainly winter heating - coming into spring - and you dip below that sort of percentage in summer - it might be the 3p on day rate will work out cheaper for some - others might be disappointed though.

Not been informed of new rates by Eon but their currently available tariffs now show SC the same and 3.5p off electric and 0.32p off gas from 1 April compared to yesterday's prices with a rider that prices will be dearer up until that date.

Seems unfair as high night users will get a lower reduction. Surely it would be better to reduce each rate by the same.

Most people using night rate for heating - on E7 type deals - are most likely to be reducing their night use heavily in near future - if not already.
