Morning all xx
My Saturdailies routine has been scuppered by my cat feeding routine, so I'm making it up as I go along, which is not my preferred way of doing things at all. Every ....
And for some reason the rest of this post has disappeared 😕

Morning all,
Chilly and murky here. Very uninspiring. I have primped and cleaned the dining room as we have people for dinner this evening. They are coming as guests, not being eaten, just in case anyone was confused 🤣. I have taken a very easy way out with what is being served. The pasta sauce is blobbing nicely on the stove top, a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake is made and in the fridge. Yesterday’s flying such as it was, was in the LR. Not that any guests will be venturing in there, since DH decided to chop up one of the armchairs in anticipation of getting the room redone. The trouble was that he chopped it up over a year ago, and the room renovation isn’t even booked with the builder yet….

I'm still decluttering the food stash and came across a dried fruit muffin recipe that I happened to have all the ingredients for, which will neatly dispose of a box of dried fruit, so while I was waiting for Belovéd to come back from various errands he had to run this morning I made them. It's the first time I've made muffins that actually look like muffins and not flatish cupcakes. I can now work my way through that smallish but still a stash off dried fruit. They're not bad at all, and I say that as someone who doesn't like fruit cake much. Win:win.
I must say that making it this year's mission to clear some space while actually using what I've got rather than buying the next thing, and the next thing, and the next thing - is making space (very slowly), but is also extending my repertoire quite a bit. Just had my first one with a cup of tea and it will stop me eating my 3.30 bar of chocolate every day as well, which will make it a win:win:win situation.
Plus, of course, if I make a Christmas and/or birthday cake for Belovéd in the future and end up, yet again, with a pile of unused dried fruit from the selection the recipe says I need, it will then be a useful way to use those odds and ends up in the future. Win:win:win:win.
And if anyone comes to call, there's something in the tin to go with a coffee or a tea.
Win:win:win:win:win.
Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.7 -
@Blackcats the recipe is online here
I used up some packets of cranberries for snacking from MrAl, where the fruit are moist because they are covered in sunflower oil and sugar, and they sank to the bottom of the tin - but I gather that the cake that I took to the church coffee morning went down very well nevertheless! It was certainly a very nice light sponge.

House reasonably flown round yesterday with downstairs vacuumed and tidied; kitchen ditto. Planned afternoon of gardening prohibited by yet another rain session. I'm sure I did some indoor flying between lunch and zumba but don't ask me what!
My shiny gloves are finished, not sure the colour and shininess show so well in a photo! :
I've now started some similar using Emotions Curious wool. I'm making them for my sick friend who we are hoping to visit again next week. She's lost so much weight that she is often cold, and she likes bright colours so I thought it would be a little something I could take her as a change from flowers as she's had loads of those. It's a token anyway.
- lake swim this morning, no kingfisher seen but lots of nesting coots and moorhens. Swans and grebes have disappeared so presumably also nest-building, they are more discreet than the coots (which take no notice of swimmers passing within a couple of meters of them).
- Went to Mr A on the way home.
- Also went to H0bbycr@f to get wool……as well as the Curious, I also got a ball of 'Peaceful' from the same range and a fantastic one called which I've just to my dismay found considerably cheaper online. If I was any good at anything more complicated than gloves etc, I'd be back online……….lots of gloves? I can do hats and scarves……oh, and baby MaryJane shoes! I originally couldn't decide between the Curious and the Orange for M; picked the former then when I got to the till I was £1.40 below what I needed to get £5 off, so guess what? Yep. Shop assistant assured me that it meant I'd got the Orange free……
- Deleted lots of emails from my overcrowded Inbox. Seems I'm always doing that, do they breed or something? It's all this 'helpful' info ….you've looked at something, you've ordered it. we've packed it, we've nearly sent it……..etc. then the umpteen reminders that you'd love to review it.
- Did a vague online search looking at cars. I don't like changing cars and probably won't in the immediate future, but Mr N pointed out that I've just reached 90,000 miles so it isn't bad to have some sort of plan. For much of my life an electric would be great, but I'm still uncertain about the amount of miles I do to and from Dorset and also UK 'breaks'.
- Did some drumming practice.
- Caught up by phone with a friend who managed to return from Australia flying Emirates before it all happened; her mum and aunt who were due to fly this week have re-routed in a long journey from Sydney via Melbourne and Singapore some time next week. It's all so scary and horrible.

Apologies for the size of the photo; I just can't seem to make it smaller.

Morning all xx
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, fed the birds, put out the recycling, walked down to DB's, fed and fussed the cats, walked home, first load has been swished and draped on the airer, second load is swishing.
Going out for lunch. Again. Get me being sociable. I'm taking pudding - which will be a Co-op surprise. I'll feed and fuss the cats again on my way home.
Babs flew home yesterday. All being well Pops, DB and DSil will fly home tomorrow afternoon 🤞🤞Pops is still in hospital but they've said they'll complete a fit to fly certificate in the morning, then it'll be a taxi to the airport, assisted flight at both airports, and home. I don't know how we went from 'if he gets on a plane he'll die' to being fit to fly (with no intervention apart from antibiotics) - so I'm not counting any chickens until I'm told he's in this country and still breathing!
Coffee?
