Lloyds switch for up to £500, 24 February to 30 April 2026

You're right, of course. Might help that buying discounted supermarket gift cards with a Lloyds credit card from Everup registers as "Misc and speciality retail stores" BUT don't know what code Blue Light returns on a similar purchase.
What's the Tesco discount at Blue Light? Everup today (it varies) is 4%.

Yes, and if Lloyds say it's OK but then decline atlantis187 (b.t.w. make sure to get a screen shot or even better a transcript of your chat with Lloyds) has a very strong case for appealing to Lloyds and/or FOS.
My perks provider is currently offering 4% for Tesco. It's not Blue Light though.

Are you sure about this? It might be store specific, but I've definitely purchased higher value gift cards at my local Tesco for cashback promotions with other banks.

I believe Tesco sells non-Tesco gift cards as well and allows to charge them on a self-checkout till.

Are we confusing buying gift cards for third parties (say Amazon or Argos) at a branch of Tesco - probably fine for Lloyds cashback purposes - with buying gift cards to spend at Tesco from the various sites that offer them at a discount (Blue Light, Everup, etc)?

Was a Tesco gift card purchased as a Tesco store, used for a Nationwide debit card cashback promotion.
But to avoiding going too far off topic, I'd personally stick to in-store purchases over buying them online in this context. Much easier to argue you just "did your grocery shopping" when it tracks back to a physical store. I ultimately agree that buying gift cards at a discount below face value is a good value proposition, but I'm just concerned that it might not count towards this particular offer and you won't know until it's too late to make additional purchases.

I paid £200 towards my water bill. The category listed is "Utilities" - nothing to do with debts or finance. I guess that qualifies?

Should be fine, those are a totally different merchant code.

Can you ask someone at Lloyds to check if you're eligible for this? I believe I last had a switch incentive paid out in Dec 2022.
Which number do you call (I'm guessing maybe the Switch Team) or can you use the chat?

The premier switch requirement states pay-in £5,000 in the first full calendar month - I've read warnings elsewhere about transferring the money from another LBG account (e.g. Halifax), but as far as I can see the terms don't exclude this?
