Money Moral Dilemma: Do I keep paying extra for trains and hotels to see my friend who won't commit?

I have a friend somewhat like your daughter; but she has a decent income but is unable to manage her funds funds so can't plan ahead. I just take the lead and usually book my travel/accommodation that has some flex (it's usually me travelling to meet her and other friends in the city that I used to live in). It's sometimes hit and miss but I know that's just her and nothing personal.
In my experience, people are who they are. You either accept that or move on.

I was always advised that friends are people who add value to your life - if she does then it's worth having the discussion to maintain the friendship via acceptable date/event negotiations. If she doesn't, maybe it's time to move on!
