Dogs have a really great sense of smell, but humans not so much. Some people are more concerned about the chemicals/smells coming from the paint and furnishings; only you can say what you 'think' you can smell.

Every house i bought has been empty. Risk is i dont like it give up a good area and have to relist the house and more legal costs and settle for another area?
I mean most houses that had pets probably smell less fresh?

I know it’s maybe a bit over top but honestly I see those floor coverings as dirty and needing replaced

Then replace them and factor that into the cost?
You seem to be working quite hard to talk yourself out of every option that comes up. In the circumstances it would seem more straightforward just to stay put.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

This is a bit random but my own staircase has a chew mark. I was considering asking the neighbours if they previously had a dog at my house? Might help make my mind up as I could have been living like that here all it my house was freshley painted ??

Most pets are absolutely fine, and a deep clean of carpets will make them clean and hygienic.
OTOH I have viewed a rental property with deep carpets that reeked of wet dog, and know one where 2 large dogs were left home alone most days and when that family left the landlord had to do a lot of work to get rid of the dog pee smells. These are very unusual, and were very obvious.
So I'd say it is your OCD traits talking here, or you're over-thinking it, and while most people would be fine if the house did not smell at the viewing, only you know how it could affect you, your OCD, and your family.

If you are that sensitive, don't buy it. You will be forever wondering if that 'funny smell' is due to previous pets and unable to rest.

true but what if the dog chews in my current house meant a dog lived there anyway where I stay now?

The only way round this dilemma would be to buy a new build. That may have its own set of problems, but dog wee is unlikely to be one of them.
