One question
Bearing in mind that this is a competition to win approximately thirty thousand pounds, why the hell are you people giving the answers to anyone and everyone.
I've worked everything out myself so far and earned the right to be in that final draw after the last question.
By giving the answers away to people who can't be bothered to sit and think for a while you're reducing my (& everyone else who's put the time in) chances of actually winning the final prize, and instead it going to someone who doesn't deserve it.
STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!

Plus, Anvil and Perpetual, are coincidences, but not relevant.

The odds of winning are high already with over 20,000 people are already playing.
Im sure you would be extremely grateful though if you won because you were stuck on figuring out the answer only to find it on here.

I do think that you are missing the point of this forum. Everyone contributes any competitions (and the answers if possible) that they can in order that everyone can maximise the competitions that they can enter. There is a sense that a lack of selfishness is a positive factor in making this hobby fun for all. If someone wins then all celebrate (see ). This site is not about beating everyone else to a prize. Contributing your skills and knowledge to help others encourages those others to help you in return and allows you to enter comps when you might otherwise be unable to do so. I fail to understand why you would so recently join this forum if your only purpose is to complain that it is unfair.

I would refer you to my comment to doc_buddha at
but personally it is nothing to do with kudos or ego boost, more a desire to help and be helped in return. The chances of winning ANY competition are so low that it makes very little difference to the odds if we advertise the competitions and answers on this forum. Prize value makes little difference to most folk on here, it is more the joy of unexpectedly winning, whether that be a CD or £30,000 (though I do admit the latter would be preferable).

maybe the process is more interesting than the reward.

I wasn't in fact stuck, I had the answer before the puzzle was even officially released due to guessing the URL based on the 4.1 URL, and working it out properly, by myself, as I have done for every other stage.
20,000 sales don't translate to 20,000 final names in the hat, and the actual odds (if it was played correctly) are pretty good, especially when compared with something like the lottery for example, but getting worse the more people think it's ok to share answers and it really ruins the spirit of the competition for everyone who wants to play properly.1
