The likely outcome is the whole deposit of £500 will return to your current account tomorrow on Monday.

I recently overpaid (sent £250 instead of £200) into a Newcastle BS Regular Saver (Manchester BS is part of Newcastle BS, they use the same systems). The whole payment was rejected. The payment came back to the source bank account within 24 hours.

@Pickledonionlover - I double-checked the RS calculator and it does say that, I can only assume the difference is caused by opening the account with a cheque cleared on 30th October 2025, with a faster payment on 1st November - so it effectively had £600 in it for the first month, and had £3,600 sitting in it for virtually 2 months until maturity… as the first two payments for this account have gone in on the same dates this year, I assume the 2027 interest figure will be similar to this year's.

Yes I use online banking, with the old view format rather than the new.

Quick query about Santander RS. My standing order is set up from my Santander Edge Up current account with £15000 appx other standing orders. I top the edge up account up after 8.15pm to ensure I get interest in the edge saver for that day 1st (did it appx 10.45 pm last night). I've had an email to say insufficient funds to cover the £200 x2 today, yet I can see I have £1200 in there. Is this some sort of weird quirk with Santander trying to take the s.o maybe the night before?

Regardless of the email, has the RS (x2?) been funded?
How do you have more than one?

One is my wife's. No not at this stage

I do the same ever since interest rates have crept up. Each month I save more than £2 a day in interest at the beginning of each month keeping my RS SO funds in my 5% EA accounts until the 8.15 pm? watershed has past (about 10pm for me) before moving said funds into my current account.
With regards to the Santander RS @8% funding this is done by transfer (not SO) from the Santander CA so exact timing will possibly be different.

Well it says may try again b4 2pm so I guess I'll see if it happens!

Mine's funded with a SO, can't remember if I or Santander set this up.
