As per my prediction, although maybe took nearer 10 minutes as holiday Wi-Fi is somewhat chilled out.

Might be a browser issue. I have open links ib new tab set, so when I click on the document links they open in a new tab. Windows + Chrome browser.

Do Progressive always require photo ID for new customers or can you sometimes be electronically verified without?

Always required. As an existing customer you sometimes get through without (I did, despite my debit card funding issue) but others have reported being asked again. ID still exactly the same document as last year when I opened Rainy Day Issue 4 and no change of address, so maybe that helped.

Progressive:
I had to provide ID and selfie despite being an existing customer, and then the account was opened instantly and appeared in online banking without needing to log out and back in.

Progressive.
When did you last open an account? I opened an ISA a couple of months ago and was asked, but this time I wasn't. Maybe they ask if a certain time has elapsed e.g last financial year.

A query please. I got as far as choosing 2FA and chose Authenticator App ahead of WhatsApp but didn't really want to pay the licence for it, so tried to go back a page to alter my choice and ended up in a doomloop, so will probably need to start again.
For those with experience of Progressive, is there any particular reason why they prefer WhatsApp to SMS.
I'm not particularly keen on WhatsApp for anything secure.

The phantom one will disappear after 2 weeks, so no need to do anything there (I was worried it would cause a problem with my actual account the last time around and just left it.) The funding not being taken is new. If it was pending on the card but not showing in the account that would make sense, but it isn’t. They could probably do without the phone call at the minute given they will have a mounting pile of applications to check.

WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted and is far more secure than SMS.
Are you suggesting that the Salesforce Authenticator requires a subscription/fee?
In any case you can use any "standard" authenticator (usually an) app, I use Google's.

They directed me to the SalesForce Authenticator, didn't cost anything. But I do have to pull the screen down to get the login attempt to appear for authorisation.
