Re YBS 6% £50 maturing in September

Mine matures on the 21st September - does anyone know if I could bump in another £50 on the 1st even though it currently stands at £600? I'm aware it's hardly worth it but I'm just looking at what I'll be paying on Tuesday!

I phoned to check because mine seemed to crash after I'd put the instruction in. The chap I spoke to said because I was early enough in the day, it would most likely be in the account the same day. I'm guessing they say it will be following day because if you request after a cut-off time, it WILL be the following day. Better to under promise and over deliver.

You can open this account from £1 and save up to £50 each calendar month. This would be a maximum of
£600 in one year, before your interest was added.

Arguably ambiguous, as it doesn't say account maximum is £600, just that you can put in £50 per calendar month, and this would mean a maximum of £600, which wouldn't necessarily be the case…? Might be worth trying?

I used one of the withdrawals during the term of the Darlington RS and received the money the same day. Whether a closure takes longer to process than a withdrawal, I don't know.

Was going to put my request in today but didn't see an option to select Tuesday's date, so didn't proceed in case the next screen confirmed it would be carried out today rather than offering a choice of date.

As the interest (or the morphing to a maturity account) has appeared dated 1st September, any request processed today or tomorrow is likely to lead to an interest clawback. As we know, Darlington aren't the best at applying the correct interest…

I did go through with a withdrawal request to take the balance back to £1. It seems the request is picked up and actioned somewhat manually. Nothing happens at the point of submission.

Just bear in mind, it's next working day with Yorkshire, so any potential gain might not be worth the risk if the £50 would be in an easy access paying 5% anyway

It says: "Withdrawal requests received by 3.00pm will usually reach your nominated bank account by the end of the following working day." Thinking again, 'usually' and 'by the end of' don't mean the money can't arrive on the same day😀. I'll do my withdrawal tomorrow or Tuesday morning.

Guessing they make the transfer by Faster Payment and have borrowed the wording from their bank, with 3pm being their own cut off to manually put the transfer through.
