The Top Regular Savers Discussion Thread

I had a similar situation as I had an App and Branch regular saver
maturing today. My app version had morphed into an Easy Saver account
paying 1.1% whereas my branch version proceeds had been moved to another
account as per my maturity instructions. I started by requesting
transfer of the App account to my nominated account which went fine from
the app. When I tried to transfer the second one to the same account I
got a message to call them. When I did and gave the my details
including the sort code and account number they were able to do
something remotely to remove any block. I can only assume it was some
sort of security check.1 -
I've seen several mentions of people who have existing Halifax accounts being able to open the 8% regular saver. As someone who has an existing 5.5% regular saver how can I open this or is it not possible for me? I don't see the option to open that savings account and I already have an Everyday Saver open.

So the maturity email said to go to their dedicated maturity page. Complete the details then they'd implement them. Great.
Then I get an email saying log in to read a secure message. It says "we can't accept instructions by email" despite this being what they asked for (the form, not email) and to use "move money" after maturity.
So setting up a nominated account? No, 2 days later they say doing that has "failed" and to call them.
What an inept procedure to receive maturing funds! Looks lke it's got to be a signed letter in the post and a cheque!

Sounds like a pain. Hopefully it defaults to an easy access you can just hoick the money away from?

You need to 'renew' it into another type of account and then you'll be able to open the 8% RS. The accrued interest will be added to your account when you renew it but you might need to logout and log back in again for everything to refresh correctly.

You need to "renew" your 5.5% account into something else. This will allow you to open new 8% RS.

Monmouthshire App exclusive RS maturity
Mixed results. Nominated a/cs set up last August and used for other RS renewals in April.
My withdrawal request leaving £1 in the easy access a/c made via the app early today went through with funds received late afternoon.
My wife's request via app a few minutes later asked to input withdrawal bank details despite the nominated a/c still showing in her online a/c. Email from them at 15:23 to say "Unfortunately we've not been able to process your closure. This is due to our electronic check system not recognizing you bank account details. If you could send us proof of your bank account details, we can then verify them and then process your closure".
Account closure wasn't requested, just withdrawal leaving £1. She's replied pointing out the verified nominated a/c is already set up but attached a copy statement anyway to hopefully expedite matters.

Maturity date is 31 August. I've not heard from them either, but no regular saver currently available. Will be switched automatically into a low interest Everyday Saver.
