…and by making it a "branch application" only and branch management account they can in effect limit it to those in the immediate local area able to get to the branches (2 of them) without actually having to say it's limited to residents of postcodes x,y,z etc.
All in the aim of reducing the possibility of being submerged with applications if it were a postal account.

Yes, you can open issue 8 and you are an existing member.

In that case, they may have underestimated the ingenuity of people on here!

Those on here will be a minority of total potential customers, and those willing to make a treck because they are not postcode restricted out smaller still. Unless you have a travel pass or can combine with a work/family visit, accessing a branch will wipe out the potential interest for most (especially if variable such that it is likely to fall by the end of the term.)
There are posters on here who avoid accounts that can’t be opened online.

Well, in the last two months I've trekked to Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Durham, Market Harborough, Rugby, Chesterfield and planning to pop up to Mansfield next week. Oh, and Stoke, forgot them!
I'm debating whether I can be bothered for a trip to Gravesend for Kent Reliance, even though that's not that far. I'll have to see what other branches they've got where I haven't been

A savings superstar and a sterling superstar too. Thank you for the work you put into this thread @Bridlington1
I've bagged the Newcastle Building Society Regular Saver and on my to do list for the weekend is setting up the standing order. When it matures, perhaps I should use the pot to explore the Toon and Northumbria.

Those who post here might well be a minority, not so sure that the market is an awful lot bigger than the number who look at this thread though. I would bet that the book of accountholders for that short-lived Beverley BS account has a significant overlap with the readership of this thread (and its predecessor), for example.
I would read any society who chooses to limit an individual account to people willing to visit a branch only as an attempt to form a relationship with that customer rather than just end up with a book full of rate tarts. Particularly when the branch network is very small and/or limited to very small places.

How long does it take money to show in the Skipton account? The payment I sent on Thursday isn't showing up yet. I did get a ticked COP when I set the payment up.
