Newcastle BS RS Issue 1Ah, that there would be the issue… after having issues with the COP thingie, I changed my nominated bank account, so the two have different nominated bank accounts. THANK YOU!
Do you happen to know whether they would get in touch via secure message or phone call (I can't use phones for voice calls)?1 -
I got snail mail letters. In the end I had to provide a copy of a statement for each account so they could verify the details.

If the terms did not rule out holding both the online and branch version at the time of application (which is what appears to've happened in this case), then the customer can only reasonably go off the terms available at the time, which they agreed to.
To then turn round after the account was launched and say "actually you can't hold the online version if you have the branch version" and expect those who applied before it was added to follow the updated terms, would in my view, be a breach of the FCA's clear, fair and not misleading rule.
This same scenario cropped up with the Saffron BS RAF RS last year in which they launched the account and after I'd applied they added a new term in which I was no longer eligible and closed the account. Saffron BS upheld the complaint and paid me £45 as an apology, the same principle applies with ESBS in this instance.

It was a similar case a couple of years ago with Gatehouse not allowing a thirteenth payment into their regular saver despite the T&Cs not disallowing it. They backed down.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?1 -

I did not get the original email but finally got the funds back today, 1 week on from sending it, bit annoying! Hope you got yours back too.

ESBS Monthly / Monthly Online
I just applied for ESBS monthly online when the terms said “Limited to 1 per investor”. I made a copy of those terms.
I was planning to head to the branch in a few days as finally I was going in that direction to originally open their monthly branch saver. However, I assume there is no point in doing this now? (I would have opened up the online version regardless but a shame the branch version cannot be according to their ‘adjusted’ terms)

Beverley BS - Regular Saver Issue 3. Appears to have been launched 03/08/2026.
Now working as a more classic RS. Same interest as Issue 2 - 5.5%. Key things from T&Cs:
- Each month a deposit between £10 – £500 must be received into the account, the account should see no withdrawals in the one year term and the account must remain open until the one year term has completed in order to receive the bonus payment.
- On maturity this account will transfer into the Instant Access savings account, this will happen one year from the account opening date.
- One account per member.
Appears you can have this along previous issues.

Yes, that would be pointless. While the online version was applied for while the terms did not forbid holding both, the terms for the branch version also say one or the other now. To have a chance at both, both versions needed to be applied for under the former terms.

Teachers BS
Mine took a week from sending to being returned, as well, after using the REGxxxxx number for the August deposit.

Thank you
One thing which annoys / confuses me is when logging in online for their previous RS the interest rate shows as 1% with no reference to the bonus.
