With BoS, that's exactly what I did. It was closed yesterday and I opened a Monthly Saver 8% today. I'm not sure exactly when the 8% became available again. I had the old account closed around 5pm yesterday and had the new account available when I checked today around midday. HTH
To fund the account, I accidentally set up a transfer directly to the new account, which went through without problem. I was going to transfer to my BoS CA and then from there into the RS.

Tbh as I very rarely get the train I'm not the best to ask but Dudley itself didn't have a train station.
Dudley Port is the other one you're referring to, thats between Dudley and Great Bridge, probably 2 miles away from Dudley town?
Tipton is possibly closer than Dudley Port but there's not much in it.
Just seen in another reply the trams mentioned, it seems an eternity so hopefully they'll be up and running very soon.
I've spent too much of my life stuck at temporary traffic lights!

I closed my standard 6.5% Lloyds monthly saver and then in the app checked what was available to me. Only the Club Lloyds 8% monthly saver was offered. I opened and funded it on the 14th July. But the classic and Club Lloyds monthly saver are both 8% so I guess it doesn’t matter to Lloyds.

I decided a couple of years ago to always vote. It's easy to do online and you can appoint the Chairman as your proxy to vote in favour of all resolutions. I work on the basis that it is good to support these smaller mutual institutions of which you are a member. Membership does count, unlike in the large anonymous organisations owned by institutional shareholders. Also, it may happen some day that a good savings product will be offered to existing members but only those who cast a vote in the last AGM.

Monm BS - Your Bank Account
Yesterday deleted my old c/a, registered a new one and got the scary notification about the signed form etc.
This morning I can see my new account (Lloyds) shown as 'Approved for Transfers'

"Also, it may happen some day that a good savings product will be offered to existing members but only those who cast a vote in the last AGM."
Unlikely, imho.
Most BS (& I'm sure that includes MBS) use an independent, third party election scrutineer to manage AGM ballots.
The BS only usually receives aggregated results of each ballot from the independent scrutineer.
I think the poster originally asking about this was suggesting they, as a shareholder, could propose a motion at the AGM to be put to the vote to force the BS to offer a high paying account. Whilst a shareholder can usually ask a question, or otherwise make a comment at an AGM (or sometimes by post in advance), getting a motion proposed & agreed and put to the vote at an AGM is something quite different.

While active membership participation is always encouraged by the BSs (presumably for marketing purposes - an engaged member is always more likely to save/borrow from their "own" Society) I can't see them introducing preferential products just for "active" members - would be divisive, would add admin and would only last a year before the majority of members clued-up and all voted in the next AGM round just to get the perk.
