Suffolk Building Society RS
Thanks. I've opened the current 5% one on offer (Online 1 Year Fixed Rate Regular Saver (28.02.2027)) just now. I have a few of these sitting there with the minimum £10 balance (one has a lot more), waiting to be filled and utilised as and when other savers with a higher interest mature (or are no longer on offer).

That will be Suffolk's first below 5% fixed rate RS since the one due to mature 30th June 2026 (launched March 2025) which was 4.85%. Still worth it for the fixed rate, with base rate predicted to fall to 3% during 2026.
Correction: it is the one due to mature on 31st July 2026 which is 4.85% fixed. The one due to mature 30th June is 5% fixed.

I downloaded and printed the form and as a new customer just sent the form alone along with an opening cheque. All was approved with no further contact until I got passbook plus welcome letter though the post around 6 days after I posted application by 1st class post.

Virgin exclusive RS issues 3/5 Refresh
Closed issue 3 yesterday via online “current account closure” form. Received balance to nominated account today. Opened issue 5 today and funded. 👍🏻17 -
Yes I did this in December no problem and reopened before the end of the month.

Thanks. I've taken the plunge and closed mine too, withdrew the full balance first even though this might not be necessary, expecting around £60 interest to be returned to my current account.
That's good to know. I used to think that it was a bit unfair on banks to keep closing and refreshing accounts, but in this case I reckon you're doing Monmouthshire a favour. Come August lots of people's 6% and 7% regular savers will mature in quick succession, and Monmouthshire will have to deal with a lot of withdrawals in a short space of time. We can help them out a bit by spreading those maturity dates throughout the year!

Surely that many people on this board have done this done this but if you have a Nationwide Current Account and you haven't opened your Flex regular saver already tonight might be a good time to do so before going to bed. It's still showing as available for opening on the nationwide website and it's pretty much the market leader who all will be watching on Thursday when it's time to see if they pull the current issue a launch a new issue (issue 9?) with the lower rate.
