Isn't the main problem that the cut'n'pasted text has lost the attribution that the "old" method would preserve?
And, I now notice, the quotation marker from the first paragraph has been removed from my reply.

That is indeed an issue I have opened here: forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6652969/partial-quote-mis-attributed-upon-quote
So please do go along and upvote if it is affecting you too. If that can be fixed then it would make selective quoting of others a better experience.

Having to use "shift+enter" to get a single like break is not natural.
2 -
You might think that but it is how MS Word has been set up to operate for the last 18 years. Enter is used to insert a paragraph break, whereas Shift+Enter inserts a line break (and Ctrl+Shift+Enter a page break).
This is because writers do not usually insert breaks between individual sentences or groups of words. Most commonly they break between paragraphs of text. You'll struggle to find websites where paragraphs aren't formatted with some extra margin between paragraphs (although the 2.0 paragraph spacing used here is a bit too much IMHO - 1.5 or even 1.2 lines is usually sufficient as a visual aid)

Hi everyone
Thanks for the continued feedback, and thanks to those who have posted on the Rich Editor Feedback board.
I'll be unpacking the issues and passing them along to our provider over the next few days.
If you've added an issue to the new board, please 🙏, if have the time, edit your post to make it as clear as possible what the issue is and how to reproduce.
If you see a report by another member you think you can clarify with a reply, please add it.
Bug reports won't get any traction unless the issue has clear steps to show how it can be reproduced. So I'll be going through each one and trying to put it in a format that will be acceptable. The template on the board is the bare minimum. Usually I provide video of the issue to our provider, so the more info you can give on how I can reproduce, the better!

Selectively quoting, because I don't want to quote everything, but that's not how I recall the previous MSE update. Yes, it had double line spacing when initially launched, but it was very quickly switched back to single line spacing.
This system, shift+enter, is just another way of complicating what was a very simple system.
This is very much a case of bug vs feature.
Where there is something that is not behaving as it should, we can report it as a bug and it will go into the system as something that needs to be fixed.
But if it's something that is not behaving as we'd prefer it to, we can put in a feature request. This is actually done in a similar way to the Rich Editor Feedback board, where we make our case as strongly as possible, and other sites that use the Vanilla platform can vote on whether they'd like a change or prefer it the way it is. And that might affect whether a change is made.
Personally, I like it that line spacing only appears where I want it, with Enter giving just a new line.
But the way text editors have moved over the past few years, it's very much been for the Enter key to create a paragraph break.Join the MSE Forum

Hmm, I seem to have noticed another, only slightly annoying glitch. I've just checked all my notifications, but it's still showing one unread.

Nope, this is the first time I can recall having to use it.

It has done this for months for me, i just hit f5 (refresh) and it disappears.

I don't use Word, (various open source editors and DTP programmes over the years) and I'm pretty sure this goes back to the introduction of WYSIWYG: press enter for a new paragraph, and shift-enter for a newline, if you need to cut the current line short, otherwise keep typing and let word-wrap do it's thing. What you see depends on the paragraph properties, particularly the inter-paragraph spacing (which may be single spaced, so no obvious difference from a newline, or 1.5 , 2, or 3 lines, giving increasing space, the last leaving 2 blank lines between paragraphs). Obviously when using an online resource like this, it's the forum owners who set the paragraph spacing, while on you own machine you do, and you may have line spacing set to 1, and hit enter twice when you want to see a gap.
