I know a lot of people don't like change, but I have been fine with most of the new updates. The only real feedback from me is that the top line text on quoted messages often looks far too large and bold.

One really cool feature I just noticed today though, is that I started writing a response to a post in the editor, but then left my work PC without posting it.

When I returned home, I opened the site on my home PC, all the text I had written in the comment box (but never posted) at work, was sitting there ready to post, so it must be held in a temporary location under you user account. Cool touch! 👍️

@Bridlington1 does sterling work in maintaining the Top Regular Savers thread which he has had to relaunch due to the changes MSE have made.

This has highlighted another weakness of the new system to me. If using a mobile phone, you can't see all the information unless you scroll right which makes it very difficult to use/read as per the screenshot below.

In addition another feature is that if you manually make the columns wider, it uses up more characters, on one of the posts I found if I widened the table it said I'd used up too many characters, but if I put it back it let me post it.

I tested the tables before launching the RS discussion thread, for those paying attention you'll've noticed my most recent post in the archived thread changed quite a lot last night and the night before. I found the tables looked a lot better if I set my phone to landscape. This is a screenshot I took on my phone yesterday when testing:

I'd agree though it would be better if the editor would fit the table to the width of the screen rather than it being a fixed width, it'd also mean I didn't have to adjust the width of the table whenever I post the info into the thread, but in terms of maintenance it only takes seconds to do so it's less of a concern for me in that regard.

'One man's meat is another man's poison' and all that - what you describe as a cool feature was labelled as an irritant by at least one earlier poster who doesn't appreciate drafts being autosaved in that way!

I have sight issues, so I wouldn't be happy if any text sizing was reduced beyond what the sizes were. It was difficult enough after the last lot of changes we had.

Very true, and having used (and moderated) forums since 2001, there are always people who resist change (not that this is necessarily a bad thing).

There is no way you can please everyone… so don't bother trying. 😉

When I was a moderator for a major UK forum we had the same issue with people raging after every major vBulletin update / revision (same as nowadays with every new iOS version that launches) asking why things couldn't just be left the same as the previous version.

However, fast forward 1 or 2 years later to the next iterration, and, like clockwork, those same people were back demanding why the new features couldn't just be left the same as the previous one (the same ones they were lambasting 2 years earlier!) 🤦‍♂️

I can't get rid of my "drafts" !!!

I tap the bin button, but next time I visit the thread...it's still there.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)

Delete them via the 'my drafts' link under 'quick links' - there may be other ways to navigate to this but that's where I find the facility!

I was able to get rid of an unwanted one of mine by selecting all, cutting, then hitting save draft.

I see the split screen option, which was one of the new functions that was actually useful, has disappeared!
