Evening
Didnt get as much done last night as hoped as DD was coming back from DS and the main road was closed, the diversion took her back to where she had come from, and her sat nav couldn’t find a route home. She called me in a panic as it was raining heavily, she was starting to get panicked so I had to talk her back road by road, turn by turn. And of course it was great fun finding out how much of a lag there is on the find my friends app! Several missed turns and a trip to Tesco later she arrived home with a card, flowers and snacks for me to thank me for always being there for her. I was quite touched. It even meant I had to watch the second half of Traitors on catch up, and what an episode! So the Boxes of Christmas paper were sorted and not a lot else.
Today has been a full day at the paid stuff, a cuppa and a quick flick through my new easy cook magazine, which I can’t bring myself to cancel as I have every single one since it started in 2004 all neatly filed in boxes on top of one of my kallax units. Followed by half hour exercise routine.DH is gonna fend for himself for tea as I am still full up from a huge chunk of pork pie that I had fresh from the butcher at lunch time.
Tonight I will chill and catch up with more from the lists over the weekend.
Hope everyone remains safe and warm from the stormy weather xMortgage, paid off!7 -
Had a meeting at DS1s school today, so didn’t end up getting through as much as I wanted. But I did:
- Take the dog out.
- Take down the window decorations
- Clean the inside of the front door and surrounding windows.- Cleaned the hallway skirting boards.- Cleaned the downstairs bathroom (deep clean style).
About to go and clean the kitchen and I’ve a few bits of laundry to fold and put away. Then I think that’s enough for today. I’m exhausted. Works been a lot but also, today’s meeting at school gave us a lot to think about. So taxing all round.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

Good morning my lovelies xx
I hope you are snug and toasty, and keeping safe when you venture out. My little corner of England has fared well so far. Touch wood. There seems to have been a dusting of snow overnight, but prior to that it was clear. And icy!
I'm now on Day 1 of 10 days off. So it can snow if it wants to. As long as its gone by Monday when I have a doctor's appointment at 9am. No plans to venture out this weekend at all. Saturdailies beckon so it'll be do a bit, sit a bit....I find that I get more done that way. If I try to do a lot I often don't even start, but breaking even the simplest task down into bitesize pieces makes things doable.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, changed Joey's seed and water, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with two lives lost, and supped my first brew.
Yesterday evening I denuded the magazine rack of half its contents. There's a pile of supermarket 'books' and newspaper like updates from the local Council which I'm not going to read - ready to go in the recycling box. Fer-ling.
HB - are we still collaborating 😍. My Cupboard of Doom awaits. One item a day to be removed starting on Monday. More is acceptable, but as long as one item is removed each day I'll not beat myself up. I should be able to see the back of the Cupboard by December 😙
I'm contemplating decluttering a room at a time a drawer / bag at a time alongside the CoD project. Otherwise I'll wnd up with an empty cupboard in a House of Doom 😱
I'm ready for another brew. Join me?

On further investigation- I opened the curtains 😉 - it's not a dusting of snow. It's a hard frost. Pretty to look at, probably treacherous underfoot.
Go steady!

I'm contemplating decluttering a room at a time a drawer / bag at a time alongside the CoD project. Otherwise I'll wnd up with an empty cupboard in a House of Doom 😱Of course we are! Every cupboard of mine in the house has become a Cupboard of Doom, starting with the one in my office, my Room of Doom so it's doubly bad. I'm a HUGE fan of one item at a time so as you're up for it, so am I. Good. One item a day seems the perfect way to tackle it to me because at the moment I open it and think, 'Too much' and just close the door again. It's been that way for week if not /months. Good luck with yours and I'll be back later to say what it was I dealt with.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.5 -
Well. Now you mention it. I have two Rooms of Doom, two Sheds of Doom, and, like you, every cupboard, and drawer, in the house is a Cupboard/Drawer of Doom. Yet I now have floor in every room so something has gone. And, no, I haven't just piled stuff up to give me floor. Stuff has gone. I have too much stuff is all.
The only empty thing in the house is the ottoman!!! After emptying it one item at a time I've never put anything back in it. 🤣.On it, yes. In it, no.
I've got it in my head to start CoD on Monday. But I will deal with one thing from somewhere today. And let you know.
I'm showered and dressed. WM is swishing and I'm steadily ticking off the Saturdailies. Having a coffee as I sit a bit.

All Saturdailies done. Two loads of washing draped on the airer ready for a laundry shuffle or two over the weekend.
Just One Thing (JOT?) Packaging from new carving knife has been removed from the kitchen worktop and recycled.

This morning I have
- ate breakfast prepared by DH, loaded DW, S&S'd kitchen
- PUPA in the LR
- showered and dressed
- S&S'd bathroom
- made my bed
- started WMx1 (my clothes) - I am expecting that there will more when DH eventually gets up and sorts out his dirty clothes
- sorted the last few packets of photos that are actually dated (I've culled two shoeboxes full) - last night I sat up into the wee small hours to make a big dent in that job
- thrown out a waste bin full of photo envelopes into the recycling
- rescued the washing instructions for D's new pillows from the recycling; put the card in the utility cupboard where I keep the WM and TD instructions
- put two shoeboxes' worth of unwanted photos (mostly landscapes) into a black bag, ready to go in the black bin
- put the empty shoeboxes back into the easily accessible eaves loft until the next time I need them (I find them very useful for sorting things like photos and family history records)
- made and drunk a coffee with round.
Now off out for a walk in the sun and still bitter cold with Rosie. We may or may not get more snow overnight: nobody has driven up or down our drive for 3 days, and I'm not going to be the first to test it until more of the snow (and presumably underlying ice) has thawed, even if that means a last minute decision on going to church tomorrow morning.5 -
Cupboard of Doom Progress - the empty jars are off the shelf are in the preserving pans with their lids, which is where I want to keep them. Several other jars tidied into a sliver of cupboard where I can access them when I want to use one for things like making vinaigrette. All the tins are back where they belong on the bottom shelf where they belong. Pots of pills I take daily like vitamins have been moved out of the corner they were in because they're a pain in the butt living in there, but as yet I don't know where they'll be living next so they're still in there, tidily. Some progress has been made, but those pills are still in the cupboard because it's better to put them where I can access them more easily, even if they don't belong there long term. So the cupboard looks better but it's not finished by a very long way.Seriously nasty bird feeder is off the tree, emptied of mouldy bird food, dismantled and scraped out. Wing nut saved, unlike the last feeder I took to bits, when I lost the wingnut. *curses* Biggest bit of bird feeder put in to soak. That's all I can do to it today, but that's huge progress because it's a job I really loathe.Five minutes dusting done in the bedroom, along with five minute vacuuming on the top floor.Things tidied away that have been dropped where they landed all over the house for the past two days.Draft meal plan for the rest of the month constructed so that when Belovéd and I are scoffing our boiled eggs for Sunday breakfast I can talk it through with him. He's on board for the Pantry Challenge so I can edit it to suit him if needed. Pasta will feature. Lots of pasta.Vis a vis the Pantry Challenge - my plan is to report when something that has been Hanging Around For Far Too Long is used up - that'll be me smugly posting. I think the first thing is likely to be a jar of instant coffee, but that won't be until the day after tomorrow at least. Unfortunately, faster than I can finish things more things have come into the house - this morning a kindly neighbour gave me a Horrids Christmas gift box so we've 'scored' a jar of brandy butter, a Christmas pudding and a tin of biscuits, all in date. *sigh*All the Christmas gibble has been shoved in the attic, and Belovéd has promised to take his old printer and the CS stuff out of the house next week. At last. It's gathering dust it's been hanging around so long.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.5
