I had some lovely window decorations up for Christmas on the front door entrance way. Now they are gone, it looks boring and pretty rubbish. What else can I put up there? I might have to look for some vinyl window stickers for the different seasons to keep it looking pretty. DS1 hates it now too. He misses the pretty window.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

Hi all
I spent a couple of hours giving the kitchen a proper clean on Friday, yesterday I went to meet a couple of friends for coffee then came back and did some gentle flying.
The weather is dreadful today, sleeting and blowy. An indoor day.
DH has his heart set on taking out the open fire in our LR and replacing it with a log burner. The carpets, curtains and sofas in there are past their best and it all needs money spending in it (which will have to be saved). DH wants to do as much of the work as he can himself but he works full time, doesn't get many holidays, and has had health issues. I am worried about him starting this and it dragging on endlessly.
I need to put some washing in but I feel the call of my sofa and my book.8 -
I have emptied the DW and the TD and ironed what needed ironing. I have some pots soaking in sink but I'm glued to ebay as I have an item finishing shortly which has lots of watchers and a couple of bids.
Bins emptied, rubbish out and compost bin topped up. Old rabbit shut in and young rabbit now running about on the garden - there's not much grass in her run as she digs and eats it, I've also cleared outside kitchen drain cover.

I had the same thought as Valli regarding Wendywitch's curtain

It's thawing fast here and I went to church this morning - only 10 of us there (less than half the usual number). On the way home I called at MrAl to do a small shop for us and another for our NNDN. I treated myself to a 95p bunch of daffs - no price increase there. When I got home I delivered her things to NNDN, put everything of ours away, and made lunch for us both all.
DH has gone out to his Sunday wargames club in a hilly part of town, so I expect he'll be home early in case it freezes again this evening. I've offered Rosie the chance to go out for a short walk, but she is snoring beside me, so I think I'm just going to follow her example and curl up on the sofa for an hour or two - she had me out of bed at 4.30am, which I was not best pleased about! I got some pork steaks out of the freezer, but I might leave them until tomorrow and cook something quicker this evening. I wonder what else I have in the freezer? It's always a lucky dip! We have leftover rice pudding from the 2nd batch for afters, [nom-nom]

Ta da, operation decorate the landing, stairs and hall is complete! The carpet is beong fitted on Tuesday. I thought it was due tomorrow, but at least that made me get a wiggle on. Now comes the “fun” job of finding appropriate furniture / storage / culling the excess 😈. How is your decorating going, Kazmeister?
As a nod to flying, I have s&s the ensuite and bathroom. Next week is a new flying week. I need to meal plan this afternoon, now that I know when DD is in and out for the week. She has asked DH for a takeaway tonight. I am definitely in the Not A Fan brigade, but he has agreed as a treat, so take away it is.Weatherwise, it is now wet and windy. This morning it was just above freezing but with the wind chill, it was -7🥶. The temperature tonight is due to rise to a balmy, and ridiculous, 10 degrees.6 -
How odd, I’ve lost the strike through function when I log in on my phone. 🤔twinklie said:Todays list- Wash up from yesterday - DH was doing it after I went to bed - he did not do it.

11 & 12 are now on hold until Thursday so I can do it on my day off. We did a tip trip instead. Lots and lots of cardboard and paper - specifically old study manuals of DHs.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

Evening peeps
Treated myself to a bath this morning after my very minimal biscuit breakfast (going out for lunch which we don't normally eat) and 1/2 hour exercises.
Walked the dog then DD drove us to pick up Dad so we could a have a glass of wine.
Lovely to see my dad although he was a little low as his younger brother has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. He wants to go and see him so I said I would take him over whenever he wants to go. Uncle has never been one for going out and we were always told we couldn't visit him as he had a lung condition that if he picked up a bug could kill him so we rarely went. I did visit recently and found out after all the issues he had, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cystic fibrosis which all makes sense with how he was. Given that he has declined any Ca treatment as he is now 85 (and a rarity to reach that age for CF sufferers) Dad wants to take him out to visit their old home and the pub opposite which has a lounge dedicated to their cousin, quite a famous Fens eel fisherman so I hope he does want to go as he's been quite a recluse, and never having had children with his wife who he lost a couple of years ago. Didn't let us dampen DH's birthday celebrations though.
Came back and did the final final touch up on the painting then cleared all the equipment out and swept the floor ready for carpet, cant wait.
YL - we looked at getting rid of our open fire, as the fret was damaged and falling off, to exchange for a log burner and it was going to cost thousands and lots of complications. Because of the regulations now, you have to have a special liner in the chimney, you cannot have a fireplace made of certain things, if you have an existing surround they may have to take it off to test it, ours is an original from around 1900, they couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't get damaged and then we may not be able to use it if it didnt comply etc etc etc. I decided it would be a good idea to see if the fret from the above bedroom fitted, which it did with a little bit of shortening of the legs so we have saved ourselves thousands.
Tonight I am supposed to be making a cake topper for DGD who will be 2 next week but I'm bored now of trying to find the right images and start cutting tonight so that will be a project for during the week.
Tomorrow I will be up and away early to look after the kiddies and do the school run and then not back until dinner so flying will be minimal - but I will do something!Mortgage, paid off!6 -
