Good to see you so perky Valli.Flying plans for today:- more dusting- some vacuuming- finish a lot of Foodbank paperwork. At some point I'll deal with the tall, heavy pot that blew over and smashed on the front steps in the gale. Not sure where to shove the hydranga that was in it but Belovéd can tackle that.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.7

House is clean - I've been doing mindful cleaning so it's taking longer than normal but it makes the process a lot more enjoyable! 😁
I've started a new routine of doing the whole house on a Monday then alternate floors of the house on the other days - it is making life a lot easier and the house feels tidy and clean most of the time! 🙌'Happiness is not a destination but the journey you walk every day'

Morning all,
Valli, you made of snigger out loud! Hope the dentistry settles down quickly.
HB, there is a very good reason why my ex work colleagues have agreed to come here when the apocalypse strikes. Being married to an Italian, we actually have a pasta cupboard (DD used to show this to her friends!! Some sort of tourist attraction, it seemed!). And storage box. And emergency drawer. After all, life without pasta is (apparently) unthinkable. When we started the latest renovation of the hallway, I had to turn out the preserve stash from under the stairs. Suffice to say that there was enough that I had to box it by year to stow in the garage, and that 2018 rhubarb and ginger jam actually tastes delicious. The freezer now has wriggle room, but it still has lots of odds and ends and rarely something for an entire meal. There is also the hg veg which swamps the freezer every summer. I would like to get to the point when I could order a fish box regularly. It is a work in progress, along with the tall larder, where jars are stacked precariously, just in case I run out…and the stash from our trips to French supermarkets.
On to flying. What flying? Today will be back to painting the hall woodwork. I have a massive ironing pile staring at me, so would like to tackle that, and some admin tadpoles about to develop into fully grown frogs. Tbh, the ironing will probably win.
I hope everyone escaped the bad weather that was forecast. Our 15cm of snow for overnight turned out to be mainly rain, so we were lucky.6 -
Morning all, It's a wet day here, but underfoot/roads are still very slippery
My list for today
Do the required uni work
Do paid stuff
Organise my diary as I've had to move work around due to the weather and now feeling unorganised
Spend an hour on volunteer admin
Watch the recording from Tuesday night and make a note of financial things to look into.
Fill the DW and switch it on
Laundry x 2 loads
Put a bag in the new bathroom bin so it's ready for use
Take DD to her tutor appointment
Take DD to the stables so she can feed and check on her pony.
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Friday.

we haven't had as much snow as was forecast but lots of cars seem to have been abandoned, apparently, and many schools closed. DW, TD & WM have all been used.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

@Valli 🤣🤣🤣
Oh that made me proper chuckle & reminded me of the time we convinced my friends younger sister that tampons were meant to be used to stop a nose bleed (she was only 8) We got absolutely roasted by my friends mum a few weeks later after little one proudly came in from a small tussle outside with a nose bleed went to the bathroom and returned with a tampon up her nostril! 🫣 we had some explaining to do..🤣
My ma has a thing for richtea biscuits and asks us to purchase them for her most weeks..
We discovered before Christmas that she has at least 16 twin packs in stock and when questioned as to why she still asks us to get more we were informed that shrinkflation is happening and she’s concerned that they’ll change the recipe so this is to ensure she has adequate stocks to then have a chance to find another fave biscuit 😮
@Honey_Bear, made me think of your pasta in the wardrobe as that’s where we found some of the packs 🫣Flagging already, though I have done lunchboxes, breakfasts for 2 and tidied up the kitchen.
Shopped at Leeeedles (DS2 loves how Lidl is pronounced in Ireland ☺️) packed it all away and had a cuppa n some cereals.. body would like a snooze.. brain says do some housework.. heart wants to read a book 🤣 oooh the conflict 😣"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

Here the Black Country has become the White Country: yesterday evening the snow started to fall just as I got home from the chiropodist's (via the chemist to pick up my prescription) and we had a good covering by 8.00pm. When I let Rosie out at 4.30 this morning
it was a bit deeper - she was almost up to her knees in it, but was loving it! I didn't expect L to come for her this morning for her walk, but her son can't do his landscaping work so L has borrowed his Land Rover and says she can just "plough through it all". Other cars are getting through with care: the staff changeover is happening at the care home down the lane and beyond the fields behind our house. There are no buses to speak of and the borough's schools are all closed. DH has cried off going to war games club this evening because although it is thawing a bit now, when it freezes again at nightfall the entrance to our cul de sac will become treacherous and impossible to drive up.
Fortunately I too have a siege mentality and we have plenty of food in the house for all of us. Not as much pasta as some, I suspect, but I filled up the larder cupboard, tins shelves and both fridge/freezers on Tuesday when I did the big monthly shop, and DH brought in more milk and yogurt on Thursday. Yesterday I made another yummy rice pudding to use up the last of the full-fat milk that I'd bought in for DGS1+2. At any time I usually have one open and one spare packet/tin of any item, though recently I have upped my stocks of tinned beans and the like, so that we can eat more meatless meals or bulk out winter soups. Basically, I only buy as much as will fit in the available storage space - although my tuna tower is in danger of becoming two towers, as DH won Slimmer of the Week on Tuesday and came home with an assortment of tins and fresh F&V: he'd only lost 1.5lb over the two weeks including Christmas, but that was enough to be best in class
Back in 2002, when I cleared my mother's house I found at least 20 packets of sugar in the spare bedroom wardrobe, which she used as an extra larder, so the following year I enjoyed a lot of hm jam and marmalade: that was probably what started me on the slippery slope towards pre-diabetes
Must get on with photo sorting - but first, coffee! Anyone joining me?

Madammim- read a book.
Morning all. One work shift done, shelves in spare rooms dusted, two ornaments in charity bag, dog walked, dailies done. I'm off to have a pedicure next then back to paid stuff.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Afternoon all. Haven't posted for a few days but through the week I've dusted, polished and vacuumed the whole house, washed the kitchen floor and cleaned the bathroom/toilet. One bed changed and washed, the other one changed and ready for the washing to be done tomorrow. All the rest of the washing done plus my DD1's washing machine died earlier in the week so I had 7 loads of hers to do too. At least I didn't have to dry hers.We didn't have any snow with last night's storm but windy and very wet. I picked my DGD4 up from school and it was awful. She said it was like being in a film!Hope everyone's OK x6

Afternoon All,
I'm a few days behind but I have been doing bits.
On Wednesday I skipped going to my group and went to see my parents as GS and I didn't visit them on Monday. I did a few jobs for my mum but I can't for the life of me remember what I did back home except move things around in the front room as DD2 got me a cd player for Christmas so I needed to find it a home near a plug socket. This lead to me looking through my cds but I'm not very good at making decisions on what to get rid of so that job's been left half done.
Thursday I went to see DD1s in law ish people because I haven't seen them in quite a while, basically haven't felt like it but the mother in law ish has a way of making you feel guilty about not going. I dropped some things off to DD2 on the way, so that killed a bit of time. DD2 was helping in the charity shop and I ended up buying a Lloyd loom looking chair for my bedroom!
This morning I put the DW on before I got ready to go to my other group but buy the time I'd waited over 20 minutes for the bus in the sleet rain I decided I couldn't be bothered so just went into town to do my other bits and collect my chair and got a taxi back.
Since I've been back I've unloaded the DW, cleaned and sorted the fridge, done a freezer inventory and rejig. I've S/S the kitchen, put the washing away, cleared and put away junk off the dining table. I've also gone through my handbag and changed over to an oilcloth one as my thick canvas? one got soaked in the sleet.
I've just had a call from DD2 who's having a bad day. I'm now having a coffee, just about to update my budget book while listening to my neighbours shouting/ telling off their kids.
