We have had Virgin TV for several years and at the start managed to find local BBC news way down in the channel list.
A friend was on local ITV news but we can't get it. He was on Calendar which covers Lincolnshire but we can only get Yorkshire news!
Is there a secret channel list?   How do others watch their local news?
I have asked Virgin but they haven't replied.

It's been a while since we had it but do you have to enter your postcode somewhere in the settings to determine which regional news programs you pick up ?

Isn't ITV based on the postcode that you put into the settings on your box?
Asking Virgin themselves is likely to be a frustrating exercise, when I was with them I got the best help from their Community Forum.

Are you on Cable?  I can't see anything on my Virgin box for localisation.  I get my local ITV and BBC feeds automagically.

Would it be available on-demand on ITVX?

That takes a postcode for localisation.

BBC iPlayer also lets you choose your region.  But I think the OP is looking for the local feed directly off air?

Is it not meridian you're looking for on ch871?

Meridian is the region that covers the south, nowhere near where the OP lives.

Thanks all. I tried ITVx but that only shows a selection of stories, not the one I wanted.  Yes we are on cable.  I can't see how to get local news on ITVx.

There is a thread in their forum from a while back from a customer in Lincoln on this and it shows a map of what you get https://community.virginmedia.com/discussions/Virgin_TV_V6/receiving-wrong-regional-news/5540831
On ITVX you need to sign in to your account, manage account and edit your post code to somewhere you want to be

I live the the ITV Anglia region. If I watch Freeview in standard definition (Ch 3) I get the Anglia local news. If I watch in HD (Ch 103) the "local" news i get is Meridian and not Anglia.

Years ago there was a similar problem with BBC local news not being particularly local on HD but that problem ceased some years back.

I assume a similar issues also affects Virgin??
