Didn't realise there was a whole world of those books, I have Blackberry Wine which apparently isn't in the main series but is a 'cousin' book to it

Before the weather became unworkable in this morning, I cut some more flowers …
First sweet peas 🤩
The centurea(?) were an accident from me dead heading last night … <ahem> … 😉
And some snapdragons:
Not an ideal colour mix, but I picked up a flat of them a few weeks just to see if they would ‘do’ in my thin soil - apparently so 😊

They could be … 🤔 I will try and take a picture of the leaf form later, it’s very distinctive.

Well, well, well ….
Mr KK was working on his engine block outside the front of the garage in the shade this morning when the Chair of the Chapel committee stopped. Apparently, they did a trial last week of the band playing in the chapel itself and then came up to listen to it in our garden whilst we were away. They were horrified by how awful it was up here and how loud it was. Also, because they were playing in the chapel and not the school room at the back, the whole of the rest of the neighbouring houses got to hear how loud and intrusive it was! The Chair says that the band will be told that they can’t practice there in the evenings and they will have to find a day time slot if they want to carry on practicing there.
On the one hand I feel vindicated as I was 100% correct about the acoustics of our garden and the back of our house and the insulating effect of them playing in the back room (I’ve done formal noise training for goodness sake! 🙄) but I’m also really annoyed that it has taken this for them to finally take it seriously. I’m also annoyed that they did the trial without discussing it with us first, as per my email to them after they mentioned the idea of a trial to me at the evening event. If we had been here and experienced it, Mr KK would have completely flipped! I would have been the one dealing with his anger and trying to restrain him - he’s previously threatened to go down there and cut all their power cables …! 😳
We’ve had two years of this. Being brushed off and dismissed. I’m actually quite upset by it.
In other news, I did wake at 5am, got out in the garden by 6.15am (struggled to actually get going), did a bit more clearing and got two more dahlias in the ground 😊 I started being BUZZED by bitey things by 8am so have had to stop working there and have moved onto the beds in between the mower garage and the patio. I’m enjoying working there so will aim to dip in and out through the day 😊 I have noticed something interesting about this area - in winter it was really shady, but now it’s in almost full sun, almost all day. There is a fern that I put in on the side of the house which is absolutely cooking as I thought it would be in shade and it definitely is not! I will give that a good water and relocate that over the coming days.
Time to breakfast and wash my soily knees before looking at my neighbour’s garden with her 😊KK

At least they are finally doing something about the issue and by running the test while you were away they didn't cause you or Mr KK further distress.

Um…. were they stood in your garden to listen…….. 🤔 Whilst you weren't there…….. Or is there a footpath or something inbetween you and the chapel?
Gosh, when we were levelling the garden we were out at 5am and it wasn't as hot in May as it is now - so I feel your pain! We too suffer from 'bitey' things, and have to slather ourselves with av0n s0 soft, which causes issues of it's own. But our first spring here DH got bitten/stung by something that went for his eye, gosh it swelled up ☹️
Hope garden viewing with your neighbour goes well.

You are correct of course. I guess there is some emotional ’hangover’ in my reaction from this having gone on for so long … I feel vindicated but still unheard.
Yes, @Greying_Pilgrim, they came in whilst we were away.
My neighbour has cancelled. Too hot. Understandably. So I’m off out to do a bit more in my garden on a job I am really enjoying 😊KK
