I'm on silt too. Mostly. Although the cardboard-over-turf has resulted in some reasonable soil and decent water retention where I've just planted all the new stuff.
Veg plot is mostly no-dig with soaker hose in it - and while it has compost, it doesnt have much soil. However, after mulching earlier this year it does seem to be staying damp, so I'm going to make more of an effort to mulch more, and more often.
Greenhouse is all in pots, a mix of commercial and home-made compost. The stuff from the hotbin definitely has better water-retention than the commercial stuff (and of the commercial stuff the Rocket Gro looks/feels the best), but it may take a while to settle down. I have established irrigation for the greenhouse, so am debating whether to set it up to water into the pots or the gravel trays. Obviously for the stuff outside the gravel trays (cucumbers and aubergines when I finally get them set up) will have the drippers in pots. And I need to remember I saw something about growing the cucumbers up to the roof of the greenhouse and then across the roof - which should also provide some additional shading/cooling 🤣).

what a lovely gift and meaningful on the wreath. Hope you have a lovely break away
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3
