Well, what a day ….
Had two people come and look at Mr KK’s Bedford. They offered on it and were accepted, gave us £11K cash 😳 🤩 (I had to count it all!) and after a further cash transfer, will be collecting it (and all the spares!) mid February (weather permitting). Mr KK has told me to take £4K of the initial cash for the mortgage - this will save us £2550 in interest and take 3 months off the term 😊 (I think Mr KK was a bit disappointed that it didn’t reduce the term more …).
They stayed for 3.5 hours! In the end I offered them lunch and fed them the soup I made this morning for my work lunches this week! 😂 The three of them were so animated, getting into military history and ‘rivet counting’ details about vehicles etc etc.
I meanwhile … cut back the huuuuge sage bush at the back of the veggie patch this morning and then after the visitors had gone, Mr KK hacked out the base with the mattock for me 💪 😊
I think these count as significant declutterings, yes …? 🤔😉😊

Congratulations!! £6,550 reduction in one fell swoop is amazing. What a great start to 2026.
That means you will be under £220k by Easter 🎉 and own over 1/3rd of the house by Christmas 🍾 🥂
It also means the term will reduce faster with every subsequent payment and o/p, would Mr KK prefer to think of it as a quarter of a year knocked off?
So that is most definitely a significant financial declutter.
Are you going to fry any of your vanquished sage leaves? They are lovely fried and crumbled over a chunky corn, potato, and butterbean chowder.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

It would be nice - they are lovely people. In all honesty, that’s partly why I offered them lunch … 😉Brie said:Well done on the Bedford sale and how lovely of you to offer up your soup. Sounds like Mr KK might have new buddies?
@f0xh0les, I think we almost own over 50% of the house already (it’s worth c. £430K to £450K or so) but being below £220K outstanding by Easter will be wonderful … 🤩😊
Not frying any sage leaves (didn’t think of it) but have saved quite a few which I am drying slowly on an open tray by a radiator 😊 I did find three bits of rooted stem that I was able to pot up as ‘cuttings’ so the Mother plant will continue here … 😊❤️ Honestly, Sage grows so crazily well here, I think I need to dig it out completely every 3 years or so. This one had been in for maybe 5 years and the main stem was at least as thick as my wrist, if not more and was taking over the woooorld! 😳😂
Actually, do you have a recipe for the chunky corn, potato and butter bean chowder? 😊 Sounds good!

OOh, congratulations, that's excellent news! I would have given them my soup lunches too
Hope the other person from the other day is regretting being so fussy!
I've got a big woody sage too, and I was just wondering today about propagating, oddly enough. When the snow's gone I'll have a look to see if there are any rooted bits.2
