I have a day off today and the Landscaper is here today to sort the back of the veggie patch 😊
After yoga (go me!) and breakfast I went out and dug out the butler’s sink at the back of the patch so it was possible to move it. Repotted the enormous Mexican fleabane daisy plant that came from it, but composted everything else (supposed to be chives) as was just too weedy - I have chives everywhere here - another happy weed! 😉
Watered the greenhouse and landscaper arrived mid sploosh. We walked the job, agree the line of the membrane / cordon sanitere and he got stuck in. There has been vast amounts of ivy under the hedge at the back so he has been hauling that out and removing it. Found one or two brambles we’d missed and is kindly going to work around my rosemary bush, located right on the front edge of the cordon sanitere , which is just about to burst into flower 😊❤️
Whilst he was getting started I came in and sewed up an annoying little hole at the bottom of a down filled gilet, that was leaking fluff everywhere I went! 🙄😂 That job has been looking at me for months. We are hoping to have enough time to (properly!) prune the Japanese Maple that was lollipoped last year - he agreed it was an odd thing to do to an acer … That would be lovely if we could.Right better get back out there and see if he needs anything else from me 😊

Done! And I’m up to 12.8K steps BEFORE my dance class tonight!! 😂😂😂
Really, really pleased with what we got done today. The old butlers sink that was here when we moved in has been moved from the veggie patch where it was dreadful visual disruption, up to the ‘heading for the tip’ location at the bottom of the drive. I will clean it up and pop it on FBMP before getting rid of it, along with left over membrane and pegs. The bed ends got dug and pulled forward and I rummaged through the spoil to pick out the newly surfaced bindweed roots! Two tonne bags of bark got emptied (always amazes me how much they can get done in a day!) and spread thickly down the membrane, which went all the way down the veg patch and behind the greenhouse, the path in the sit spot bed and in front of the compost bins. This means Mr KK can open the garage door again and move vehicles around ready for the Bedford collection. They also asked if they could have the tonne bags as they use them for collecting hedge trimmings - I said yes as I know we always have a couple in stock, don’t need any atm anyway and it saves us a tip run 😊We also gently pruned the JM. It’s better (Mr KK agrees) but still not quite right, but I am happy to live with it until the autumn and look at it again then.In other news … When we took down the Christmas decorations this year we really felt the lack of the Christmas lights we put around the old pot arm in the big original fireplace in the dining room. It was really gloomy and made us both sad. So I said to heck with it and bought two sets of white LED lights - one set like stems to go in a big vase that lives in that hearth and one set like little flowers on a string. We’ve arranged both of those this evening and they look lovely 😊 We have also swopped two pictures over so I can see my watercolour and Mr KK can see his WW2 glider engraving from where we usually sit. We’ve only been sitting in these seats for six years! 🙄😂😂😂😂🤷♀️❤️
A very successful day 😊
