Banking apps will also work on tablets and you can use screen mirroring if you want to use a TV or monitor* with tablets and phones.fluffy_kittens47 said:Well, you're entitled to your opinion of course, but I can only assume that you are app designers
Joking aside though, is your obvious solution NOT to take it out of the house?
I can change a password (never had to though), but could I change my face, or fingerprint? hmmm. When you say mobile banking uses end-to-end encryption, perhaps you are unaware that online banking also uses end-to-end encryption?Plus, reports from the 'web' appear to indicate many mobile phones have being stolen, with App fraud overtaking 'online' fraud in 2023?And, with mobile banking, the screens are rather too small, 6" ?. I prefer viewing my few pennies on this lovely 29" Monitor. It enrichens my experience if not my financial position! So, all in all, not for me i'm afraid, but, each to their own!
*E.g., for an iPad or iPhone via an AppleTV device if it doesn't have native support.0 -
Cheap tablets do not come with many years of security updates. The same is true for cheap mobile phones, but Samsung offers up to six years security on the A1 series. That still is not great though. Chromebooks are better in that regard, and some Chromebooks are cheap. "Never had a virus and boots in 10 seconds" as Google says. Windows PCs are expensive and have a poor security reputation (unless you install Linux on them). I have a dedicated Chromebook for accessing financial sites. I can attach a monitor, keyboard and mouse via a USB-C hub if I wish.wmb194 said:

I've often seen tablets given as an alternative to phones for banking apps, when the small screen of a phone is difficult for those with poorer eyesight. But can banking apps of two people (say husband and wife) for the same bank(s) be set up on the same tablet? If not, that doubles the cost for a couple, which is not very MSE.
Does "screen mirroring" (as mentioned by wmb194 above) work from an android phone to a TV screen? Is an equivalent to the "Apple TV device" required for older TVs? Again, anything extra here adds to the cost, meaning that online easily wins over apps for those of us with eyesight (and "fat finger") difficulties. If my reasoning is flawed in any way, I am very interested to hear about it.0 -
My Pixel tablet supports multiple users - each with their own set of apps and logins.etienneg said:I've often seen tablets given as an alternative to phones for banking apps, when the small screen of a phone is difficult for those with poorer eyesight. Android Screen Mirroring is done by "Casting" your screen to a compatible device (Chromecast, most modern Smart TVs).I’m a Forum Senior Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & Investments, Budgeting & Bank Accounts, and Techie Stuff boards. A Chromebook will support multiple user accounts, so two people should be able to use the same banking app on a Chromebook, but not all banks' apps work on Chromebooks. Of course, two people can log into their bank accounts via the browser on any device. My £159 N100 Chromebook will drive multiple 4K screens without any trouble, but I do not know about old TV screens. You should not have to worry about logging into online bank accounts provided that you follow the bank's advice. You are very unlikely to be hacked, and if you are hacked, the bank should compensate you. My main concern is my online investment accounts where very much larger sums of money are involved.0 -
Our main Samsung smart TV running on Android has Apple AirPlay so I can screen mirror/cast my iPad wirelessly to it as well. You can connect via usb-c to hdmi cables as well.etienneg said:I've often seen tablets given as an alternative to phones for banking apps, when the small screen of a phone is difficult for those with poorer eyesight.
