Hi, Can anyone recommend a current account with a clean intuative online (not mobile) interface?

As topic, I'm currently with Santander, and as been described in these forums previously by others, I've found their website clucky and unintuitive.
My latest (only because i've had to use it again!) bugbear being the 'Payee Name' problem again previously decribed in these forums (If you use COP as Payee name to ID, you then cant identify a particular payment because when viewing your list of payee's, they all just list your name, because Santander can't be bothered to add another column to at least diaplay your payment Reference!).
Oh yeah, and also displaying lots of junk which is completely unrelated to my account!
Are there any that do a better job?

I like the Barclays website, far better IMO than First Direct/HSBC.0

NatWest/RBS. Many have commented that it has the best online and mobile interface of any mainstream bank. Those banks that require you to authenticate in the mobile app when you want to use the website have lost the plot. If I make a choice to login online it’s usually because I prefer not to use the app - I’m old fashioned in that an app is for when I don’t have access to my computer.2

I like the Lloyds interface. What I particularly liked was the fact they allocated my username (6 numbers and 2 letters) rather than my email address which other banks seem to use. It's pretty easy to remember and I think this gives you an extra level of security. I have had my account for donkeys years so I have no idea if they still do that.1

One problem with NatWest is that they only show direct debits after the first payment has been taken.
Starlings online banking is quite clean, you need to use the app to log in but with most banks you'd need your phone anyway for the one time code.
If you are looking at Lloyd's then there is Halifax too, they are really just the same thing dressed up as different brands.2 -
It‘s much of a matter of personal like and dislike. I am very happy with my Santander as I can name my payees however I like, and overwrite the COP if I choose to do so. Mind you, I mostly use the app in preference to online, with bank.To find one you are happy with, you‘d have to try a few alternatives yourself.
I think it‘s fair to say that going forward all banks will prioritise functional enhancements of their apps over online enhancements, not least because apps are more secure than online banking.1 -
Thankyou for the feedback.I agree with friolento that apps need more work because they are more insecure, which is why I use my desktop PC for banking. Just a shame they can't implement what would be simple changes. Ah well, at least there's CASS

Apps are more insecure than online access? Other than the fact that a phone (or tablet) may be taken out of the house (for which there is a fairly obvious solution) I'd argue that in having several layers of biometric access controls and built-in end-to-end encryption, the phone app has the advantage over online access when discussing security.3 -

Joking aside though, is your obvious solution NOT to take it out of the house?
I can change a password (never had to though), but could I change my face, or fingerprint? hmmm.When you say mobile banking uses end-to-end encryption, perhaps you are unaware that online banking also uses end-to-end encryption?Plus, reports from the 'web' appear to indicate many mobile phones have being stolen, with App fraud overtaking 'online' fraud in 2023?And, with mobile banking, the screens are rather too small, 6" ?. I prefer viewing my few pennies on this lovely 29" Monitor. It enrichens my experience if not my financial position!So, all in all, not for me i'm afraid, but, each to their own!1
