2026 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD - our Year of Redistribution

Hi all, a couple of busy days. I tackled the 2 frogs but neither was resolved, both involve the nhs so there is nothing more I can do except sit on the waiting list until my turn arrives though I might give them a nudge at some point in the future 😁.

I have been working in the conservatory in fits and starts and have made some progress. 7 cardboard boxes recycled including a really big one that nearly filled the wheelie bin and one that had been used by my sister and myself several times to post various things back and forth so was a bit battered 😁. I did keep 2 that are useful sizes for gift posting. I found a carrier bag that had a few things in it from OH's dMum's last hospital stay. A hardly worn pair of slippers that will go to the cs after a wash to freshen them up and 9 magazines that were recycled. A book that had got damp recycled. 3 plastic bags that were beyond rescue binned, a bag of curtains and table cloths put into the washing queue 😁 and the kitchen bin emptied after being filled with bits of gubbins from the conservatory 😁.

I found 2 bags that had been used for swimming which had shampoo etc in so those have been moved to the bathroom to be used up and the bags have been washed and are currently on the line though as it has rained several times they are not dry but will come to no harm having a rinse in rainwater 😁. I also found 3 pillow cases still in the wrapping that have been put in the airing cupboard. Best find was 3 cloth handbags that I love and have been looking for for a while so they have been put away where they should live 😁.

Today I need to pop to the sm for bits and then I will get back to the clear out 😂.. it is raining again here but is due to clear this afternoon and then we are back to walk to walk sunshine so the weeds will be rampant again 😂. Right time to get weaving and get something done.

@surprisinglynice - DVDs (like CDs) can be used as bird scarers in the garden. If you don't have a garden you could make some anyways and offer them to your gardening friends or a local allotment.

Some of the camping gear has arrived back and has been out into it's proper place, lots of room now that I have cleared the cupboard 😊

Took two of the grands blackberry picking today, they all took some home and mine have been quick frozen to go with the (already prepped and frozen) apples in crumbles later in the year.

I'm not sure that I like any of the wallpapers that I chose yesterday, so may have to go and look for something else.

Work training tomorrow and then coffee with a friend after.

Sorted another food cupboard out and four items removed. I have so much space now in my tin cupboard. I might move items that I have in another cupboard into this one so all food is in one place.

Also returned some unwanted items.

Skip number 2 is coming tomorrow so that will be another round of getting rid. I have some wood that needs disposing of. It is treated so not good for burning.

Work have asked for any craft or art supplies so unused wallpaper (about four rolls), sketch pads and crayons and tons of other unused items will be going on Monday. That will clear out a huge drawer. I have bagged it up ready. I also have unused art easel that will be going.

Today's progress;

• decluttered and cleaned my work desk
  • multiple documents were shredded
• decluttered and cleaned the understairs cupboard
  • in the donate pile; two school jumpers, a set of 8 kitchen table mats and matching drinks mats, last year's school shoes that no longer fit, a booster seat that DH has grown out of
  • in the rubbish pile; a zipped jacket that was far passed its best,
  • in the recycle pile; a mound of DH's school work from this year (I've saved any personal and special pieces for his memory box)

All on track for the plan. Tomorrow I may have a day off decluttering (I don't count normal waste and recycling), as I am planning on doing quite a bit over the weekend :)

I have spent the day rummaging and keeping in mind ‘How much do I really need?’

I’ve put some bits away, decided that some other bits have done their time with me and it is time to release them back into the wild to give someone else pleasure.

I have also downsized my nail polish collection as there were some similar colours. I’ill see if any friends would like them, if not they can join the other bits that I’m going to put out by the gate post tomorrow for any takers.

Wore the £1 pair of navy/white striped trousers when we went into Retford today. Another whippy ice cream from the van in the market square. Got lots of bags of nougat and a bag of medium size pom poms for A - 99p. Grandad R got a pair of M & S trousers for £3 for the funeral - I altered button placement and inserted elastic in Nanna Tricia's dress that she bought for the funeral. Grandad R got a remnant of fabric- I made him an apron this afternoon. There was enough fabric to use it double as I didn't have any lining with me.

@florianatwobob totally understand that feeling when you've been away with little and come home :) I took 7kg for 4 weeks in maylasia and australia ( although borrowed dd2 clothes the last week as cold in melbourne) and now in a house which could still fill a fleet of removal vans!

Did package and post 5 piece crockery with lots of newspaper and bubble wrap and ox so counting as 8,

we had one of my boys visit with his two children aged 3 and 5. They are super funny. We went to a local farm park on Tuesday. They have lots of different play areas. When i brought the kids home they were covered in mud from playing. I took that as a great success. Yesterday they went to see Thomas the tank engine. Today all they cats are being super affectionate. They are quite good with the kids but they seem quite relieved they have gone home. We are listening to Kate Rusby who is so beautiful.

while he was here my son found three shirts he could take with him and two for charity. They look a bit grubby around the collar so will give them a good wash to see if they are good enough to donate.

Making a start on getting rid of as much as possible from the kitchen as, when it comes time to completely empty it, I want to have as little as possible. Today was the utensil drawer. 15 items gone just from one drawer! Plus it was all hoovered out and wiped clean.

I covered the windowsill in my bedroom with some sticky back stuff, we used to call it Fallon, don’t know what the name is now. It’s a wood effect and I am surprised at how good it looks. Very pleased.

Just rewritten my “To Do” list. Depending on how hot it is, might tackle the yard this weekend…although the vinegar worked on the smaller weeds, it’s not man enough for the big ‘uns. Waiting on proper weed killer for that. Then, depending on how confident I feel that I can actually do the job, I may invest in a bag of cement stuff to fill the gaps between the slabs cos it’s REALLY getting on my wick. Must read up and watch some YT videos to see if I can manage it.
