Old mattress protectors ready to go to textile bin at the dump
Cupboard of random stuff , cleared, more stuff for our local recycling waste busters. Just need all the snow we've had in North East Scotland to clear so I can actually get there.

Morning All,
@daisy_1571 Thanks for the update. I saw a SA band playing at Christmas and reminded me of them. Will keep them both in my thoughts and prayers.
Decluttering wise all decorations both inside and out were taken down last night and put in shed for now. Will make their way to the attic when we get a space 5 minutes. Monies also decluttered on hairdressers and chiropractic appointment.

@dND we go to an independent vet. They are so much cheaper than the local chain vets. I haven’t compared much for medication but when my duck needed a contraceptive implant it was cheaper at the vet than I could buy it online and that included the consultation. You can check on companies house who own your vets. If its not one of the vets it’s likely to be one of the big companies.15

Thank you @Green_hopeful. While they have multiple surgeries I was pretty sure they were independents. I've just followed your advice and double-checked. 😁 They're locally owned but big enough to have all the facilities/knowledge somewhere in the various surgeries - one of the joys of being near a city.Green_hopeful said:@dND we go to an independent vet. I'm still horrified at how much more expensive treatments are here than in France for most things. DxxAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade BudgetDECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN - 2023 🏅4*⭐️ : 2024 🏅💐2*⭐️ : 2025 ⭐⭐⭐🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 : 2026

@daisy_1571 please pass on my thoughts & prayers to Florenceem & MrF.
Bath, old electric shower & tiles now decluttered. New tiles due to be done today, grouting tomorrow and new shower, screen etc to be finished Thursday along with my boiler service and fitting an external tap.
A friend has passed on several bags of baby girls clothes from a friend of hers, so my friend with a 3mo girl is coming over today to sort them into ages as her flat is tiny! She will then drop the too-big things at her mums for storing.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Took the decs down last night and took the opportunity to bin three rubbish/broken baubles, a random plastic box and some flyers that had been sat on the stairs for a few days. Takes the total to 44/2026. Just on the right side of target so far! 😁

Freezing here with a few flakes of snow about. Hopefully it will be slightly warmer by the time I need to go out tomorrow afternoon. My last pre-diabetes meeting is Friday so I hope it does get warmer as promised. I need to start a frog this morning once I get warmed up a bit. Pile of stuff growing in the hall to drop off at tip, CS etc on Thursday.2026 Decluttering and redistribution 72/1526 Major job list 0/500 Total 72/2026

Wow 34 pages already and it's only the 6th of January! Happy New Year to all and thank you so much for wrangling us all together on our decluttering, rehoming and using up journeys @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
Last year I hit my target but there's still a lot more to go, so setting a target of 365 items again this year for decluttering which may be a bit optimistic but I'm sure we have at least that many things we don't need in this house. House project wise we're ploughing ahead with the final two bedrooms - DH has booked the wallpaper stripper thing from the library for next week and the plasterer is lined up for the week after because we know we need at least one wall re-done.
However the main big decluttering project this year is finally sorting my parent's house out. 2 years ago we cleared a lot of it but over Christmas I realised that all that space has now magically disappeared under a mountain of more stuff. It's not quite a hoarding situation but it's getting close and there are many, many deep-rooted issues with regards to possessions and not wanting to let things go. Couple that with the house itself needing basically a full renovation (we're talking re-wire, crumbling plaster, desperately need new windows and doors, new bathroom, new kitchen etc.) but they can't really have anything done until we've made some space to actually move. A conversation was had over Christmas but it's going to be an ongoing project. I gave them each a task to accomplish over the first three weeks of January - for my dad it's to order a new shed because he said that a lot of the things in the downstairs are tools etc. that he doesn't want to put in his existing shed because it's old and broken and for my mum it's to sort through a chest of 6 six drawers that will need to be moved when they have the windows replaced anyway. The plan is that when we go back to visit next weekend, we'll assemble the shed and take the old one to the dump and my dad can sort through putting things in there and then we're going to clear some of the box room too. Had my weekly call with them last night and my mum has made progress, my dad on the other hand hasn't and was quite grumpy with me reminding him he has 2 weeks left to order a shed. I have made it clear that I'm tackling this from a health and safety stand point, I want them to enjoy their retirement and they can't do that in a house that is literally a death trap. I've also made it clear that I'm not asking them to throw everything away in a skip, but they can't enjoy the things they have when they're hidden under piles of stuff. So I'm hoping that small tasks that will give them some quick wins will help them see that the progress is a positive thing. If anyone has any advice on how else to tackle this, I will be very very grateful.
Hugs to all that need them, and here's to a year of getting stuff done and making our houses homes.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201720
