That would make sense @Brambling even some chairs need to be considered for DoLS! They can be reviewed too so once she’s settled you may all find that she doesn’t need the bed guard as she’s not at risk of roaming or falling out. In fact is she is at risk of falling out of bed a crash mat beside the bed might be a better (and less restrictive) option.
If you have any concerns do speak to adult social care at your local authority. They really are the experts and on the side of you and your friend.
It’s also worth talking to your local authority too because you’re eligible for a carer’s assessment to help keep you on tiptop form. (I know you’re being a good friend but being a carer and a friend aren’t mutually exclusive roles).

Thursday, I woke up before 08:00 & decided to get up. It is another overcast damp day & has rained a couple of times already. The forecast is for a high of 10°C (feeling 4° colder due to a W wind) & a low of 6°C with more rain throughout the afternoon. I did the wudupa whilst making my first cuppa. Also peeled some spuds to add to the soup. I have a vague menu plan, so took items out of the freezer, then wrote a shopping list for DH & DSis who headed off at 13:50. I am currently enjoying the Snowboard Cross - very exciting. I had a bowl of hm soup delicious 😋 DH & DSis got back 15:35 & I have put away most of the shopping. It has rained on & off all afternoon & evening with some heavy showers. Dinner was sausages, mash & baked beans. Wudupa. Spent the evening napping & watching the Olympics.

@brambling your friend might warm to the home once she gets over the newness of it. My in laws and my husband’s aunt were all in the same care home and didn’t like it to start with but were better in time. Also we found capacity varies for some people. The aunt had quite severe delerium in hospital but got loads better in the home. I think it depends on whether its caused by some form of dementia or just stress or infections. My mother in law didn’t get better although drugs seemed to help but she had Alzheimer's Disease and vascular dementia. The aunt is now fine to make decisions but infirm.

Morning all. Hugs to all who need one today. I've put off going to Swedish shop as weather dreary but was going to stay in however DGD3 just rang to ask if I would take her to school in a bit so I may have a wander around a few shops. A bit bored and I can do tidying etc over the weekend. No news back from electrician or plasterer. I need to chase them up again. New bank card received and switch is supposed to start processing today - we will see what happens. No large payments to go out for several weeks but will see if transfers of routine DDs go through ok. DS2 did a switch recently and it all went a bit wrong.
Another mouse decluttered although this one was well dead - hope it wasn't the one I rescued in the morning. Sox has stopped sniffing around so hopefully no more - he is now catching up on his sleep after his marathon 'hunter' session. Not done much except declutter stuff from bedrooms and emptied small bins for this morning's collection. I seem to have loads of washing on the go - guess DGCs have been here more than usual.

Hi, I love, love ,love the new radiator in the sitting room. It was the right choice to site it where it is. The plumber is such a nice lad. I have known him since he was 4 in the reception class where I worked. He was very interested in the knitting I was doing. ( Dennis the menace jumpers) I will knit him a jumper when I have finished the little jumpers, not a Dennis the menace one!
The plumber helped Mr V get the bedroom carpet downstairs. Me n Mr V wrangled it straight and lifted the furniture over it. I have managed to fit it with a few cuts round the hearth. It is far from perfect but is so much warmer under foot. Our big rug is on it so it isn't too dark. It's dark blue and black and grey small pattern Very good condition and quality, just very much like office carpet for me. Actually the school I worked at had similar throughout.
The front bedroom decorating is coming on. LCL, lovely cleaning lady called after a nearby job and did a bit of glossing on the picture rail and skirtings. She is coming again Monday. I need to find the time to give the door another undercoat and paint the radiator the same colour as the wall emulsion. I need to be strict with myself and finish one room before bouncing back and to on other projects.
I have decided to sell a couple of pieces of furniture from the front bedroom and replace with the Poang chair from the dining room and a stool as side table, currently in the bathroom. The sofas in the sitting room are on borrowed time as well, as are the oak side tables.
We are going to the carpet shop soon then on to the bank which is a 3 day camel ride away then picking up a gifted cast iron head board for the spare room.

very very slow day here, woke to pouring rain with it breaking for a few hours this afternoon and now it’s pouring again.
Washing and drying totally finished, folded and both airers put away.
Photographed and listed stack of clothes to Vinted, all put away in the Vinted box, empty hangers returned to wardrobe - caught myself just about to put the hangers down on the dresser, heard myself saying “don’t put it down, put it away” so I did.
DH had dinner from freezer, I had cheese on toast.
Hope everyone is okay, have a good evening all, sweet dreams xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Can't quite work out what to tackle but doing inventory and shocked at amount of clothes bought... I tend to thi k I want x eg, tank top and my brain doesnt register I now have.one and can forget it but keeps looking out for tank tops in cs and real shops. Think inventory will help. Doing v neck jumpers and will move on to polo neck and the fleeces ( i live in a very cold house so known to wear all at once !)

I have had a busy day.
My bestie and her daughter came just after 7 to collect stuff I had sorted for the SA charity shop.
My youngest son turned up after the school run and fixed my keyboard issue - batteries!
I popped to SA with a pie my neighbour asked me to take to the food bank - she is a vegetarian and a friend gave her a chicken & mushroom pie. I was pressed again about meeting with the officer and his wife - why won't they leave me alone - I don't want to sit and talk - I am managing my grief in my own way. After the upset last week - the officer is not my favourite person.
Wet here again - builder turned up as he couldn't work outside. I put up with him as he is from my Church and is actually a very good craftsman. I feel safe being alone in the house with him. Today he measured up to fit doors on two built in wardrobes - one in the office and the other in my bedroom. While he was here - he fitted my new toilet roll holder and towel holder in the cloakroom. Builder is so pleased that I have some indoor jobs for him in this wet weather. He set off to buy doors but had forgotten his gloves so came back. I will have another wardrobe that needs doors but it is in a room of doom.
R called to say he was parking across my entrance - the road is part closed because they are renewing the gas mains. Not down to my end of the road yet but reduced parking further up. I asked R about another tip run - he is doing one tomorrow for me. I turned off the chest freezer and started to remove the food. I have piled sacks of rubbish in the drive for R to take tomorrow. The defrosting is coming along - chunks of ice in the utility sink.
J text to say he will be here tomorrow - power washing - I thought he had finished. We can go through the paint I have in the garage and what is no good - will go to the tip. I have booked J for decorating starting on Monday.
My F & B paint arrived. I got a discount code so have ordered more F & B - potted shrimp for the downstairs cloakroom and stiffkey blue for the office which is changing back into a bedroom. I have been looking at beds but loads to do before I buy one. I want a new mattress for my bed so will order that tomorrow.
I went out with donations for the charity shop in town, and I needed cash after giving the builder money for materials.
While I was out - I called at a carpet shop - they are coming to measure the bedroom on Monday afternoon. I have chosen a silver grey carpet.
I emptied the bottom drawer of my chest of drawers - got rid of lots and bagged up what I am keeping with a post it note stuck on the bag. I need to empty all the drawers and take a photo - then freegle it.
I emptied the filing cabinet - scrap man said he will take it - it is on freegle and no one has asked for it.
