Section 75 is a washout. What on earth can I do now??

You can deal with that liability issue by email. You seem to be creating a situation where it’s virtually impossible for Chillblast to pick up the machine, then complaining because it’s taking too long.[Deleted User] said:Anyway, I'm happy to get a replacement rather than a refund if my BIOS concerns are addressed that I mention above. I'm hoping that now at least Christmas day is behind us that my PC will be picked up soon. Once that happens things might go smoothly (fingers crossed). Although I will of course need to obtain a receipt, I don't want to be held responsible if whoever collects it loses it!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Just to clarify. I reiterate once again that I know very little about computers. I do not and have never implied or suggested otherwise. It would be foolish in the extreme for me to disagree with someone who assembles and fixes computers for a living and I would not dream of doing so. I did initially think it might well be the BIOS and that flashing the BIOS might prove fruitful. However, as soon as I spoke to an engineer I quickly changed my mind.
The only very slight reservation I had is due to fact the engineer was not in front of my computer, did not have any remote access to it nor any pictures of it, and is purely going off my descriptions of the problems via a relatively lengthy email I composed and sent. But, of course, since I know so little about computers and hence am not particularly familiar with the terminology and lack a sufficient knowledge of the characteristics of dysfunctional behaviour exhibited by computers, this may result in imperfect knowledge on the engineer's part. Hence it seemed prudent for me not to reach a definitive conclusion on this matter.0 -
Like here, the engineer can only go on information given. Which is why the computer needs to go back to them to given them chance to look at it.Life in the slow lane0

Indeed. I really wish they would collect it. It's been packed away taking up room for the past 13 days.born_again said:Like here, the engineer can only go on information given. Which is why the computer needs to go back to them to given them chance to look at it.0 -
I'm surprised you don't want to charge them storage fees.[Deleted User] said:

Given the timelines, what appears to be reasonable efforts by the retailer and the Christmas shutdowns, it all seems rather premature to be pursuing S75 or chargeback at this stage.
The OP purchased a PC less than 4 weeks ago.
After a couple of weeks there was a fault that developed.
There have been two failed attempts by the supplier's courier to collect the PC. These failed efforts seem to be at least in part down to the OP.
The OP does not want a refund because of the price movements, so the alternative is repair of the current PC or replacement with one of the same specification.
The OP is getting agitated that they've had a PC waiting collection for so long.
The reality is nothing is going to happen before the New Year and full return to work.
S75 / chargeback can only be a refund solution, which is not what the OP appears to want anyway.
Once the supplier's offices are properly open in the New Year, the OP can make proper contact and communication to get the collection properly arranged.
Then the necessary repair / replacement should follow. Others have suggested that the retailer has a good reputation for resolving issues.
Some patience and forbearance seems like the most powerful tools available to get a positive outcome.2 -
Not only do numerous individuals on this thread misattribute my beliefs and position, there also appears to be a large amount of incomprehension of my comments. There have been two failed attempts by the supplier's courier to collect the PC. Even if I were wholly indifferent about a label or a receipt, the DPD won't take away the parcel without such a label. The courier even rang up his superior to ask him and his superior said they can't take a parcel away that lacks a label. And I can't do anything about their van being too small either. And a receipt shouldn't be an issue, they give you a red card saying something like "thank you for your parcel" or whatever.
I wonder what Mr Grumpy expects me to do? Somehow force them to take my parcel?
The people in this forum are of no help whatsoever. I seemingly can't even block people. Am I able to delete my account?? I can't work out how to do it.0 -

Miracles happen at Christmas, but the collection of your broken PC won't be one of them.

I believe you can email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com from the address associated with your account and ask them to delete it.[Deleted User] said:

To quote what you said in your opening post.
it was on the 11th December when it was confirmed my PC had a hardware fault, it is now the 24th December, 13 days later, and it still has not been picked up. In one visit the DPD said the box with my PC was too large to fit onto his van. Another time the DPD driver said he hadn’t got either a label or a receipt to give me, so obviously I couldn’t relinquish my PC. Chillblast/Mendit have now said they will use a private courier to pick up my PC. However, apparently, they will not be collecting my PC until sometime after Christmas.
Due to the outrageous delays,
Annoying as it is, You really are not being realistic.
You need to step back & think about what time of year it is. 13 days could be around the norm most of the year.
Could you have not written a label for the return with the address on, when the other driver turned up? As no courier is going to take a package without a address on 🤷♀️
To give a idea on S75 timescales you are looking at months, depending on how busy that dept is. But ours will not be doing many between Christmas & New Year, if any at all. Tend to just be taking calls & setting them up to be looked at later.Life in the slow lane3
