Morning all xx
I'm home alone resting on my laurels / recovering from yesterday. Join me for a coffee?
I'm up, dressed, made my bed, fed the birds, put out the recycling, changed Joey's seed and water, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in three, completed Connections with three lives lost, WULTD, and a pan is soaking.
Plan today is to get all the WU DU and PA. And put NN's chickens to bed at 4.15pm. Thassit. Today is officially a day off. Read a bit, watch telly a bit, snooze a bit- sleepless nights have caught up with me now the adrenaline buzz has fizzled out. And breathe.
Love to all.

Afternoon lovely peeps
A very lazy day here today after a busy few days. didn’t make it to the late service on Christmas Eve as I was still labelling presents and I didn’t have the energy to do it afterwards. I am a bit annoyed with myself but it is what it is and although I get wrapped up in the commercialism, I do celebrate the real reason for Christmas.
Yesterday was a quick breakfast and opening of the presents for the 3 of us, then a trip to my dad’s before heading over to DS and family for the rest of the day. It was lovely to spend the day with them all relaxing and having fun and DS hosted it all brilliantly. DGD is like a feral child despite their attempts to keep her in line and it’s likely to get worse as she turns 2 in January 😂. Despite a chilled day my body was ready to shut down when I got back and I was in bed by 9.Of course that led to waking at 1 and again at 4 and was fully awake at 5 so spent an hour or so scrolling before going back to sleep. Since getting up at 9 I had had breakfast, exercised, put a load in the TD, fed the birds and the squirrels, and am now languishing in the bath.
Not much else is planned for the rest of the day so will probably just do a swish and swipe round and find homes for the precious gifts I received.Tomorrow will be another trip to Dad to spend a bit longer with him as it is the 2nd anniversary of losing mum.
I hope you all have a relaxing day and continue to enjoy time with your loved ones. xxxMortgage, paid off!8 -
Well the DW has been working overtime and pots have been WUALTD. Many trips to the recycling bin to empty the one in the house.
As yesterday and today have been bright and dry I have had washing out on the line - both mine and DS's as they have no outside space to dry but also are struggling to get stuff dried indoors with the ceiling issue - they've 'lost' a radiator and the heat is vanishing. DiL is desperate for a washing line - one of their gifts from me was a peg bag bought at a Christmas market from a craft stall which I have helpfully added pegs to. But this was bought before the moving in date was put back.
I hope you've all ahd a lovely time.

Thank you to my Secret Santa. It is very pretty and will look good with my collection of little things I love.So glad you enjoyed hosting Christmas Round. It's a lot of work but huge fun when it goes right, so I'm pleased as punch for you.Hands up those of us who made two lots of stuffing - and left them in the fridge until after the meal was served? Hands up those of us who made a list of all the things we were serving - and didn't check it? Honey Bear has both hands in the air. Don't know if anyone else has but I doubt it.Our neighbours came in at 3.00 for the King, Belovéd had taken the turkey out of the oven about 15 minutes before so they did the TV thing in the sitting room while I listened in the kitchen and did veg. It was a lovely meal and both they and the neighbours opposite are coming in for leftovers at 6.00 pm today which will help use up the mountain of food. My plan was to cook once and not again for a few days, and I'm pleased to say the fridge is rammed full of food we absolutely love; just the way it should be. Pretty much everyone I know in real life says that while they love Christmas, it's the leftovers on Boxing Day that steal the show.Belovéd couldn't have been more helpful in the run up to Christmas Day itself, which was unexpected and rather wonderful. He was a fab host, thoroughly enjoyed himself, did a lot of clearing up and we then had a long very unexpected conversation over the last of debris on the table while he finished his whisky and I finished the champagne.Trotted up to bed, I went into the bathroom and when I came out he was flat out on his back, fully dressed with his slippers on, on the floor at the foot of the bed. There was no waking him. I put him in the recovery position, shoved a pillow under his head, his duvet over him with a couple of dressing gowns and went to bed myself. Later on he made it half way into the ensuite, head end by the wardrobes, feet by the loo, spark out again, flat on his back but minus his slippers and trousers, which I thought was a start. Put him in the recovery position again, piled on more bedding because the ensuiite has a draughty window and went back to bed.He didn't surface until gone 11.00, he's still in bed, has had tea and coffee and has gone back to sleep. He does make me laugh.Better is good enough.7

Happy 2nd day of Christmas, everyone!
Sorry I didn't get in to see you all yesterday, but I was recovering from a surfeit of church services on Christmas Eve and spent much of Christmas Day trying to catch up with lost sleep. Thank goodness we didn't have any visitors!
Round, there has never been any doubt in my mind that you made the Flylady grade way back when you successfully emptied the ottoman one item at a time xx
Thank you for your profound thoughts, Honey_Bear xx - you have given me permission to do the minimum today, although we have K and the girls and also my Old Wives friend J coming for a full Christmas meal later. Yesterday evening I did some baking (having had no time for that sort of thing the day before), but, despite my having used both recipes successfully many times, my cupcakes and Genoise sponge all came out surprisingly flat. I simply do not have the energy to make more today, and I have no intention of wasting the gold-plated cocoa, so we shall be having a "make your own trifle or whatever you want" type of dessert, with several different components on offer alongside the Christmas pudding which none of K's family like. No doubt the girls will be happy to eat moist - aka soggy - cake if it is chocolate flavoured. I only finished putting up the lights and holly decorations this morning, and as for wrapping gifts..... One day at a time is my new motto, and as my family aren't coming until 2nd January I am in no rush. As long as the gifts I need today are ready, that'll do nicely
I don't know what tipple was fortifying our vicar on Christmas Eve, but after announcing the processional hymn at Midnight Mass he forgot to pick up the baby Jesus which was lying on the altar, and it was a good thing that I was on the end of the third row and could whisper in his ear as the procession passed me, so he had time to go back for the baby and catch up before everyone else got to the crib!!! It certainly set the scene for a very relaxed and smiley service, which is not his usual style
Rosie would like to go out for a walk in the sunshine before we grab a bite of lunch, so I'd better get a move on.
(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks if needed, otherwise lots of love to my Flylady friends (and that's all of you!) xxx

For a minute there I thought Beloved had collapsed Honey_Bear! If he was so helpful he deserves a rest lol
SD, who apparently could not get here under his own steam yesterday (he bought himself an invalid scooter when he lost the car) because it was 'too cold' has zipped down here because his mobile phone had dropped out of his pocket and was left in the car and he was desperate to have it back.
Draft thread for next week and Monday's list created as we are at my sister's on Sunday so it will either go up early afternoon or very late.

Thank you iona xx Maybe I should start taking things out of the Cupboard of Doom one thing at a time in 2026. Now there's an idea 💡
HB - stuffing balls were reluctantly dropped off my list when I was trying to work out my oven space/ timings but there was turkey, roasties, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, sprouts, yorkies, and gravy. No meat for me. No pigs or parsnips for DDil. And we had Baileys Chocolate Log for dessert.
Lessons learned ready for next time: buy prosecco instead of wine; more cauliflower cheese, less sprouts/ carrots; and I was very disappointed by the turkey 'crown' which turned out to be a tiny turkey with legs and a butt - supposedly to feed 3 or 4 people. It fed DS and DDil - and there wasn't a shred of meat left on the carcass. It shouldn't have had a carcass!! It was supposed to be a crown. Luckily because it looked like a dead bird I didn't want any - Christmas Day is the one day I have historically been flexitarian, not this year!
All is WUDUPA. Lunch today was frozen pizza and a slice of Christmas cake - a homemade gift from DSil.
Tomorrow I have a friend coming for lunch - I'm thinking veggie pie, chips and beans.
Get me 1. allowing people into the house! And 2. feeding them 😋
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Well done Round, i can remember thinking that a turkey crown wouldn't have a carcass the first time we got one. We forgot to get a bottle of fizz, DS reminded me that we usually have bucks fizz on Christmas morning, will make a note for next year.
We have been for a short walk up on the moors. Back home with the fire lit and stuffed full of leftovers I can't keep my eyes open, which is slightly annoying. DH is playing on the PlayStation and DS2 has gone off to his room.
I have flown a little by doing a load of washing and hanging it over the airer and sorted some recycling. I might find something to watch on catchup TV to avoid sleeping all evening and completely messing up my body clock.9 -
We have been to family for lunch yesterday and today - what a treat! No cooking and washing up. I offered to help with the dishes but I was politely ordered to sit down and relax.
DH hoovered round before we went out this morning as the cat seemed to have traipsed in half the garden with him when he came home from his early morning constitutional. I swished round the bathroom sink and so we came home to what appears, at first glance, to be a clean and tidy house.

Our sitting room, kitchen and dining room look relatively tidy. Unfortunately for me the sundeck is strewn with all the pots and pans I didn't wash up last night when we had both sets of neighbours in, as in out of sight, out of mind. So there will be washing up to do today, but that's probably it for the for the Christmas Clear Up. We have enough leftovers (hurrah!) to see us through a few days and that makes me very, very happy. Turkey sandwiches with mayo and lettuce. Yum yum yum.Because it stopped raining a few days ago I've had laundry on the line for days, and another load in the machine right now, twirling away. I hate having a pile of dirty laundry stacked up; getting it clear will be a relief.Round, I've had to go back to my 'Put away three things' manta whenever i go into my Room of Doom. It's groaning under the Dump and Run regime I practice when things are busy, and things have been far too busy for weeks here. I am drowing in gibble. So if you commit to gradually dealing with your Cupboard of Doom we can do them together. I loved your Ottoman series and am now looking forward to your CoD series.I'm also formulating some plans to get to grips with various mountains of chaotic stuff - in my head, in my RoD, in the cupboard under ths front steps, my financials and the ever-expanding food stash. I like planning. I like having a plan to follow. I do not like chaos. I seem to be rather better at creating chaos than planning at the moment and This Has To Stop. I find the quiet days between today and New Year helpful because no-one expects anything from me, so I get the time I need to myself. Because Belovéd's birthday is Twelfth Night (very convenient for a theatrical type) my quiet time stretches for the full twelve days, so I have Plans to Make Plans. Excellent.Better is good enough.5
