Morning all.
I am drooling at the thought of double bacon butties, round! x
Fayolle, you definitely had the better option. I hope you took a book with you x
Sorry to hear about the car, Jazee x
Valli, I got a cable that I needed from our local C*-*p - slightly dearer than anywhere else, but much less hassle x
Your latest flower arrangement is beautiful, Narc0. Hope you get to see your friend too x
So far today I have
- sent DH to his clinic appointment, followed by his SW weigh-in
- stripped my bed and washed all the bedding
- started prepping breakfast, then let DH take over (he didn't have time to eat his)
- sorted another 3 loads of clothes, towels and bath mats, and started the first (ready in 5 minutes)
- PUPA in every room
- sprayed the shower
- thrown out dead/dying flowers and the old holly that I picked at the beginning of the month
- updated my to-do list as I drank another cuppa
- had a long chat with K when she arrived o help me clean all through
- put my thicker duvet on my bed and remade it.

Hi all
And the paid stuff is done for the year (well I will have to log in one day next week to check messages but hopefully that's all). A couple of last presents to wrap, some clean washing to put away and I will run round with the hoover but that's about all for today.
DS1 has a parcel arriving tomorrow which is a Christmas present and needs to be signed for so he has sent it to our house. So that means he is expecting us to wait in all day because he has been really disorganised. Hmm thanks for that. We are visiting MIL so I hope he can track this parcel and get an idea of when it is arriving.
Stay calm everyone and if in doubt (cleaning, presents, food, other folk etc) just lower your expectations a little. It will be fine.8 -
Just doing the last 2 things on my list; downloading Kindle books (happening right now) then putting advent calendar onto laptop. Then shower. Car is packed, all required cooking done. Not sure how I'd have been able to meet up with friend although I'd probably just have packed faster.
Have a lovely festive season everyone, in whatever form that takes whether by your choice or life events.
xxRemember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Hello busy ladies
Another day at the paid stuff today and just half day to do tomorrow until 5 Jan.
Heating has only just come on and I was cold so currently sat in the dog basket with my back against the radiator
Yesterday was pretty successful in terms of flying and house looks good apart from the landing (need to wait for the new bedroom to be finished to relocate stuff there) and bedrooms which all look like absolute bomb sites with presents and wrapping stuff but no one goes in them apart from us. I sat upstairs until gone 12 last night wrapping. One minute it was 10pm then next time I looked it was 12, felt like I was in a time warp.Gonna start dinner shortly then finishing wrapping which will hopefully leave tomorrow afternoon to creat a Christmas jumper for Christmas Day and phots labels so that the nearly 2 year old can help identify and distribute presents to the family.
Not long to go now, hope you are all nearly there with your prep x

Meat bagged up and frozen
Builder has been and added the skirting boards and architrave but we don’t have the radiator as heating eng got called to an emergency.Mortgage, paid off!7 -
When I was wrapping presents yesterday I got utterly fed up with my higgledy piggledy box of wrapping, ribbons and bows that I might have said a bad word and tipped it out onto the floor. Today, in a calmer frame of mind I completely re-organised it and found lots of things to t*tivate the pile of gifts.
i collected our Christmas order from the local butcher. The man in front spent £450 🙀.A quick tidy up of the kitchen worktops in order to put the appliances such as toasters etc in more logical places or put them away completely. It looks much better now.9 -
The turkey is out of the freezer and in the fridge to defrost.
I've noted all the cooking temperatures and times of everything else.
Read the thread and double checked that my pigs in blankets don't need to defrost.
Filled up with diesel on my way to the paid stuff. Quorn sausage and fried egg butty was delicious. Ordered and ate a tuna mayo salad bowl for lunch. Second butty - fish fingers and tartare sauce - is now the plan for tomorrow.
Chocolate hangover lasted all day, so parrots were needed. My head has cleared now.
Full day at the paid stuff tomorrow then five days off.

Morning all. Full day of paid stuff for me too Round today.
Will try to fly between shifts. If I don't get on here again today, I wish you all a very merry Christmas xSpend less now, work less later.9 -
Morning everyone, it’s Christmas Eve!
Dog wanted up early so downstairs at 6, brew sunk, exercises done, 1 load in WM and breakfast done with second cuppa as I logged on. Technically working now but letting AI do most of my prep on the ERA 2025 and its implementation.
Most of presents wrapped last night, just 2 big ones to do and the 2 arriving today. No food prep to do so when I finish at 12 it will be a quick s/s through downstairs then onto making photo labels for the presents so the nearly 2 DGD can help distribute the pressies tomorrow. Then church tonight for the late service although I will be lucky if I’m not asleep by then.
Enjoy your day, hope it’s not too frantic xMortgage, paid off!8 -
Morning all,
It’s funny how similar little things in our lives can be isn’t it? No radiator here either, kazmeister, as the plumber hasn't managed to make it. Carpet fitter has just left from measuring up, but the joy of that is that I have every excuse under the sun not to fly too hard - building work ongoing, don’t you know, tapping my nose knowingly 🤣. DH went to the butcher yesterday to pick up our chicken, and the person in front spent nigh on £300. Chicken safely stowed in our fridge now, various bits out from the freezer, which is trying to get used to this new (and most likely temporary phenomenon) of breathing a sigh of relief and having space.
I need to write a time plan for tomorrow, but as it is just the 3 of us and all adults, we will go with the flow. Boxing Day is with DSis, where it will be way more stressful and I will become rent-a-cook, so a laid back Christmas Day will be welcomed. DD is working a late shift tonight, so I will taxi her there and back, as parking will be impossible in small town. I’m looking forward to her having a couple of days off, although she is working every shift she can lay her hands on so that she can take off travelling again in the new year. I’m not thinking about that stress just yet.
For today, my plan has to include HHI and a quick bathroom clean. Anything else is a bonus.
Have a good day everyone, and Narc0 summed up the Christmas wishes perfectly, although I forgot to quote it before I started on this rambling post.7 -
I managed to catch the last collection on Monday evening with my Christmas cards in the end, so they're all written, posted and delivered locally where appropriate. In the end it didn't take that long, but I do wish I'd had the time and energy to do it at least a couple of weeks earlier so that I could feel the joy of it, rather than feel beleaguered for a whole fortnight and guilt every time a card plopped on the mat because I wasn't sure they would ever get written.Which brings me on to today. I know it doesn't matter if I don't do everything on my To Do list; there's absolutely nothing that matters other than putting some food on the table tomorrow afternoon for us and a pair of neighbours. Belovéd is in charge of the turkey and I'm doing all the rest, which as most of the rest is already prepped and in the freezer, fridge, packets and jars isn't that big a deal. But I do feel that there's a mountain of stuff I actually would like done before then and I'm pretty much run down energy-wise, and overwhelmed by it all. I absolutely know I'm not the only person who will be feeling this, which is why I'm saying it on here. I'm not unhappy about it, just sick of feeling I haven't been able to do everything I wanted to do for this Christmas.Note To Self and Everyone Who Feels This Way (including myself) - whatever we do Absolutely Is Enough. No-one else cares if there's dust on the sideboard, no-one else cares if the kitchen floor has dust bunnies because the cats and dog shed every hour of every day because the central heating's on, and if anyone judges us and finds us wanting - they are the problem, not us and our houses. They're jolly lucky to have been invited into warm houses with plenty to eat and drink. There are enough people who are lonely, sad, newly bereaved, feeling the pinch financially, and facing health problems, worried or depressed, without those of us who have none of those problems beating ourselves up because we didn't make the toaster shine. And all I ask is that we are all allowed to make merry and enjoy the experience of Christmas, and that includes by ourselves. We are enough as we are.Better is good enough.10
