I take a photo/screenshot of my car insurance certificate each year and keep it on my phone as I can never remember who I'm with either."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5

Can you just get a storage file with a section for each item? Do you feel a full desk?Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

With photos I always click them as a favourite, so I know they're in that folder with less to search through.Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

Now that DP has offered to take over the renewals I don't think I do need a desk no, but if I end up keeping that job I might squeeze a small one in there. We've quite a large room for his office and we put the sofa in there to make it feel less empty 🤣 so we can easily switch it out for another desk. I'm not sure I'll need one for my new job or not yet, I'll wait to see. I've a feeling I'll have a lot more work to do that will require me to sit somewhere.... although I'm happy enough at the kitchen table to be fair, which is why everything gets thrown in the junk drawer after I've finished 🤣🙈.Bargainhunter30 said:Can you just get a storage file with a section for each item? dfw - we have a small (2 drawer) metal filing cabinet. French make iirc, bought from Argoose, around about the £50 mark when we got ours. It doesn't take up too much space, and could actually fit under a desk/table. Previously, when we had a converted cellar, it sat next to the (1kea) desk/table, which the desktop was on, and the printer was on top of it. It has those 'hanging' file dividers in them - which are not without their problems if you over fill them........ 🤔 but other than our half a forest of paperwork that is dotted about the house, it works quite well.......... The some hanging files come with the cabinet, and they can be purchased separately too. Plus, other places sell small filing cabinets - you could probably find one cheaper. Just a suggestion, I realise it may be overkill, but it has helped (sort of) for us to gather much of our paperwork in one place, although 2026 could be the year of improvement on that score! 😉
**edit** - we've had 2 of these - the first one did go rusty from being in our damp house, so we replaced it when we moved to the rental, which is the one we still have now.

@Greying_Pilgrim we have one of those too, bought from FB, super cheap and we got the files recently to put in there. It sits under DP desk ... Hence why I tend to shove everything in drawers as he's usually on a call when I'm in the mood for doing paperwork (usually right after work so it's done) as I don't want to disturb him. I did start to put neat piles on his desk for him to file which he would just move and let a small pile turn into a massive pile and I'd get annoyed and refuse to sort it again and I think this is why over the last few months passports have been mislaid, as well as important documents needed for this that or the other. We need a better system for sure. I need to be able to access the filing cabinet when I am doing it. But it is the only place suitable for it to fit. 🤔Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500

Morning all, I've had a lazy morning really sat in bed having a cuppa and a chat with DP. I feel super tired again, even though my F1tbit says I slept well enough. When I check the deep sleep pattern there isn't much on that though, I tend to sleep mostly in a light fidgety state rather than deep sleep. I think this is why I'm so tired during the day even though I spend enough time trying to sleep through the night 🤔. I'm going to try taking my magnesium glycinate earlier in the evening so it can take effect when I want to go to bed and hopefully the groggy feeling I get from it won't be there when I wake up if I'm taking it earlier. I'll try it anyway.... already have some in so worth a shot.
Gym today, dinner to make, not much else on the cards. Just in my usual January state of working & resting and wishing I could hibernate 😆. I'm not going to make myself feel guilty anymore about this state I find myself in. It is usual for me and I accept it as part of me now. I'm just generally unproductive in these cold months. 🤷🏻♀️ I'm super happy I've kept the gym up though as that's more than I would usually do 😆.
Right off to see if DD wants to come to the gym as she has a day off for once. She's usually scheduled for Saturday and Sunday so she's having a well deserved lay in. 😊Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500

Oh also, does anyone else find it a fun game to see what you can afford on RM if you were to sell your house and move to a warmer country? We've been in Italy, France, Spain and Bulgaria this morning looking to see where we could live that's a nicer temperature than here 😆😁.Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500

Gym done ✅
Cancelled subscription to something I don't use (got three months free) ✅
My direct debits are set up so I can go ahead and start my bank transfer and close down new account ✅
My cousin is coming out tomorrow to take DD for a test run on driving....let's hope she's ready because her test is in 10 days 😬😊.
DP has taken her out for a lesson most days this last week, and they're out again now.
I can't seem to warm up today..I need to look for a curtain pole for this huge window (french double doors and windows either side the same size and a big triangle of window at the top) because it's super cold in here 🥶 even with the underfloor heating on. Problem is we also have one wall of windows half height too, so five windows there as well. Not sure how to dress these for the best but they definitely need to be covered. It's not helping we have no floor still in the old kitchen - DP has filled the channels he's made with loft insulation and then covered the whole floor with hardboard and we've put a rug over it..but there are too many drafts in here and it's costing us a fortune to heat. Hence why I've had to drain my EF to catch up with that. Think I'll go have a look now for some curtain poles long enough to work in here .... 🥶🥶Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500
