TR^DING 212 ISA - Password in 3rd party data breach
Growingold
When logging in today was advised to change my password as it had been involved in a 3rd party data breach. As far as I can remember this password was unique to this site. I wonder if anyone else has seen this message when logging in to Tr^ding 212. I never save my password and always enter it manually.
Also I now see my deposits are now split between 10 different banks! Can only remember it being 4 or 5. Does the greater number of banks increase the chances of a password data breach does anyone know?
Thanks

Apparently T212 is just using HaveIBeenPwned to check passwords. You can run the check yourself here: https://haveibeenpwned.com/PasswordsYou may have only used the password for this site, but is it possible someone else could have come up with the same password and used it somewhere else? It could be a sign that a password is relatively weak if it's been seen in a previous data breach, but it is not necessarily a cause for concern if T212 is using best practices around authentication and password storage on their side.Banks that T212 use to hold your money will not have access to your personal information, especially not your login password.1

The fact that you cannot remember if your password was unique to a site might be reason enough to consider using a password manager.
No need to remember/write down the passwords for individual sites
The PWM will generate long random unique passwords as required2 -
I don't get this message. My password is unique, long, and random. You should definitely consider a password manager.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards.
