Hi @julicorn please can I keep #30? Target for this year is £3,000 - a mixture of OPs and investments. I'm also aiming to pay off a larger lump sum prior to remortgaging in spring - but not going to count that as it's saved OPs and investments that have added up over the last couple of years so they've already been accounted for IYSWIM.
Aiming for mortgage free by September 2030
Balance 1.1.20 - £69,701.80
Balance 1.1.21 - £63,699.80
Balance 1.1.22 - £57,762.80
Balance 1.1.23 - £53,074.20
Balance 1.1.24 - £47,902.00
Balance 1.1.25 - £44,141.20
Balance 1.1.26 - £40,312.20
over payments 2026 = £0/£1,200 /// invested 2026 = £0/£1,800 = TOTAL (YTD) £0/£3,0001 -
Hi new to this board and really trying to focus on getting my mortgage down over the next 3.5 years so I can semi retire at 60!
My mortgage is currently 144k and I'm due to re mortgage from a gorgeous 1.3% fix in June! :'( I have been saving in a cash ISA to pay a chunk off and have 21k in that currently. I hope to get that up to 40k by June and hopefully have a new mortgage of 100k in June then save/overpay by 1k a month min so aim is to save 19k by June then overpay by another 6k by the end of the year.
If my new mortgage only allows 10% overpayment and my ISA savings are at a lower interest rate than my mortgage then I'll be stashing any spare money into a pension as it will save in tax at some point! (i think).
If that adds up my overpayment should be 25k plus the 21k I have already saved but not over paid yet by Dec 2026! so after all that I guess my overpayment target would be 46k? Not really sure whether is should be including the 21k save or not? any views?2 -
Thanks for joining again, I've bumped you up a little bit to number 26debtfreewannabe321 said:Hello 👋🏻 I think I must have missed this thread several times when I looked for it 😆.
I'd like to join in again please! (Happy to take any number if you want to fill in gaps but I was 37).
I'd like to get our mortgage below £150,000 and as close to £140k as possible by mid 2027 before we remortgage so we can get a good rate. I've done a bit of working out and I think if we can make £4500 on OPs then we will be in a good place to definitely get to my higher end goal.
Thank you @julicorn for running this again 😊 good luck everyone!

Hi Julicorn,
I was number 67 last year, and happy to keep that number for 2026.
Didn't quite reach my amended goal in 2025, but I'm aiming a little higher for 2026, could I set it at £4,000 please.
Many Thanks, AmyMFW 2025 Op challenge = number 67

Happy New Year everyone!
It's great so many of you have signed up, old and new participants alike. There's already 43 of us this year!
I've cleared the unclaimed numbers now, so if anyone with a high number wants to grab a lower number, just let me know and I'll adjust that. Also, we've only just started, and new sign-ups are encouraged all throughout the year.
Let's see who will report the first overpayment for 2026
