  • Three months after retirement now, no pension or lump sum or any indication of if and when anything will be paid.

you need to look at the pension website at the updates by Angela MacDonald - who has delayed her own retirement to sort it out.

At least she's on a large salary, whilst leaving retired civil servants, often paid slightly above the minimum wage, in poverty. It took 8 months for me to receive my pension, albeit under the unlamented Mycsps

Hi all, please remember that myCSP & Capita are experts at not communicating!! I only found out about the Capita take over by a media article, nothing from myCSP or Capita!! Yesterday I phoned the 'hardship' line. No loans available, all they do is add my name to a list & a manager may escalate my case. A 'loan' makes it appear they are doing us a favor, when really it's just an advancement on what they should pay us! For those new to this forum, I've been waiting over 13 months & still no idea of what I'll be getting.

A reply from Alan Pickering (I believe chair of the Civil Service Pension board) says he would pass on my details to someone who may be able to help - nothing. Catherine Little (CB Chief Operating Officer for the Civil Service) did pass my request on to a colleague who did respond. They too said they would try an escalate my case.

I am expecting several years of pension arrears, taking me into the 40% tax window, which is why I haven't worked this tax year, expecting payment mid 2025! So if I don't receive what I'm owed by 5th April, I'll not only miss this years ISA allowance, but I'll be paying 40% tax on next years pension as well!

Mr Pickering says that there have been discussions with HMRC in respect of those members who have been affected by the remedy program. I've asked Mr Pickering & the Cabinet office if the 'Classic' scheme can also be included. After all it's the Civil Service miss-management which has caused this. I've also asked about compensation - I like to dream!

Now with the middle east issue, I doubt if we'll be getting any media attention for a while!

Someone mentioned about meeting up outside Capita - I could be up for it, although in my opinion it was myCSP who created my hardship.

When you eventually receive the arrears payment, you can request a schedule from Capita showing which financial years the arrears relate to. You then send that to HMRC who will reallocate the income accordingly, and correct the tax overpayment.

My pension is due at the beginning of May 26. I sent my application to MyCsp in November 25, approximately 5 months in advance.

Unfortunately, I subsequently realised that this was just before admin passed to Capita. I managed to register on the new portal early on & sent Capita a secure message in December 25 to check that my application had been received & not lost in the transfer from MyCsp.

Suffice to say I have so far had no response to either my initial application or secure message.

My pension is now due in 2 months so am wondering if I need to chase up again or just assume that I am in a very long queue. I have had a look at the latest updates & can't see anything specific to reassure me that they would even have my application.

Has anyone else who submitted application at the tail end of MyCsp heard anything yet?

Mine is due end of this month (though only the partial retirement portion) - similarly despite secure messaging and a letter, haven't had any response. I guess I'm not a critical case given the situation ANDYQ211 finds himself in (which is nothing less than appalling). My dept relayed my retirement date in October 25. Can't believe there are no calls for resignation - imagine Capita will blame CSP - and Cabinet Office are not blameless in this fiasco either. Management of CS pensions should be brought 'in-house'.

Yes, I agree about it being brought in-house.

According to latest update 90% of telephone calls were answered within 30 seconds during February, which,if accurate, seems quite an improvement.

May leave it a couple of more weeks & if hear nothing give them a call.

I am fortunate in that my main pension is in payment so not desperate. However, that is not really the point because if managed competently there would be no excuse for it not to be paid on time.

Like you I’m retiring in May, but I delayed sending off my forms until December, after the transfer, in the hope (clearly misplaced) that it might avoid getting caught up in the backlog.

Having said that, from previous experience of partial retirement with MyCSP I wasn’t anticipating hearing anything until late March at the earliest.

A colleague who is due to retire on the 31st March has just had a notification that they anticipate sending his offer letter on….the 31st March!

yes I know that. That’s got nothing to do with anything.
she is quite highly thought of by the most cynical of HMRC staff. Rather her in charge of it than one of the parachuted in public school oxbridge know nothings that usually get a promotion out of something like this
