A Very MSE Advent 2025

Merry Christmas everyone. We don't know yet if we are celebrating the 25th or on Sunday. Weatherman lied about the weather. I'm still wrapping presents though.
One roommate in hospital as of this morning. They don't plan to keep him long. He was drunk and thought he couldn't move and that he was dying. He is supposed to be sober so he can visit his brother for Christmas. His Christmas may be postponed too.
@daisy_1571 - love the advent calendar7 -
I ordered a 2026 calendar from an animal rescue charity yesterday. I am up and showered and dressed and I'm about to do my meditation, gratitude journal and pick out an angel card. I bought the Kyle Grey cards as they were recommended to me by one of my meditation tutors.
It is a lovely and sunny morning here. I just put the heating on as it is chilly, though.
I'm about to have a light breakfast of a chai latte and some fruit. The roast dinner I made yesterday was delicious and I'm looking forward to my Christmas meal today, too.
Merry Christmas to all.xxx8 -
I love this Daisy, what a fab idea. Happy Christmas to all, I don't catch up on here much but when I do you have such great ideas and lovely posts. I've already refilled the liquid soap containers and the empty bag has gone into the plastics recycling bag for the next supermarket trip. Enjoying a peaceful time today - enjoy your days everyonedaisy_1571 said:Happy Xmas everyone
Heres my homemade advent calendar. You hook a decoration (a button with a hook on the back from the pocket/plant pot) up each day. Its been used for about 20 years since i made it

That advent calendar is fab, daisy.Thank you for running the thread PiP. I have enjoyed taking part and learning about other posters' advent and Christmas plans. I have also enjoyed rediscovering my mother's and my own trinkets, and will definitely be wearing more brooches over the next year - maybe it's time to bring them back into fashion.
I hope everyone had the Christmas day that they wished for, mine was spent with the eldest and his family, then a quiet evening at home with cheese, wine and a good book.
Best wishes to all for a Happy New Year.

just catching up @daisy_1571 I love your advent calendar and @Blackcats the ring story bought a tear to my eye. How special.
I will admit to being glad the month is nearly done. I've faced my mental health issues and will start to work on a plan for next year. Thank you all for being part of the journey.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!9 -
Hi All, I have followed this thread and you all doing the advents. I did do some with you but have a drag of a year but it definitely lifted me. Even DH said we can do this better next year. This year we had a retro Christmas decoration theme and all odd plates missing dishes as most of the kitchen is away in our loft somewhere awaiting the kitchen transformation. Trifle was dished up into cups and long handled teaspoons used
The Christmas roast was not wasted and all consumed happy bellies filled nicely.
Happy Christmas Everyone

Ooh, I think you have the makings of a new tradition there, @2Scratters!
Hopefully Christmas 2026 will be celebrated in a beautiful new kitchen, but mugs of trifle could be a way of celebrating triumph over adversity.

I put my name on a waiting list for a class and a space has become available so I will be doing my 45th class of 2025 this weekend.

Last night I made a list of all the things I want to do next year. I'm going to go and review it as I thought of something else when I woke up this morning.
I am just sipping a chai latte and I'm wearing my Pisces necklace as well as another necklace I found in a rucksack in my wardrobe the other day. I think I put it in there during a meditation class and forgot about it. They match quite well as they are both round.7 -
I'm wearing my vanilla body spray (the go-to scent but it still counts as something to be used, right?) and we are having fish from the freezer and more of the Christmas carrots... I'm going to try to carry on the Advent habits of using toileteries apart from the basics and using items from the freezer or other long storage, it's been helpful keeping me on track.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Oh I did that this morning too. I used a body scrub in the shower and then used my lovely lemon body lotion afterwards.🥰Cherryfudge said:I'm going to try to carry on the Advent habits of using toileteries apart from the basics and using items from the freezer or other long storage, it's been helpful keeping me on track.8
