I put my tree up today, all twinkly lights and golden birds. Furniture moved. DH came home and now looks like a frightened cat. He hates change so much, but today he actually admitted it. Only taken him 28 years to get to this point. Slow progress.Haven't left the house, so an NSD for me! Had to wait in for a parcel, but I am being ambushed by clients when I am out and about in the locality, which is really freaking me out. Popping up from behind bushes, calling across car parks! I am on the verge of agoraphobia. I might have to quit volunteering because of this. I am too visible. The charity have had more than enough from me.Got a message from the energy company reminding me to do the meter readings. . . I did them on Monday, but something must have gone wrong, so did them again today.Hot water bottles and fluffy blankets have been deployed again. The thick carpets have made a big difference, the draughts are much less, but there is still room for improvement.Sorted work clothes for next week, and packed my case for the other job.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for the octopus meter man being on time to change our meter, for fun pushing and pulling a weighted sled with a friend at the gym, for the hair dye ending up being more pink than the mucky orange it looked like when I first put it on my head, for Pip having a good physio session, for frozen cherries.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Sending many hugs @dustydigger. It sounds a lot like what I went through with my mother. It is hard on the caregiver so take care of yourself.7

NSD # 3 for me today.Grated some cheese that needed using, used half for cheese scones and froze the other half. Froze some scones too, once baked.Wrote most of the Christmas cards. Not my favourite job, but a good use of a rainy afternoon I supposePackaged up a book to return to Am*z*n. I bought it for a present, but it isn't what I thought it would be, so back it goes. I will take it to the Post Office on Monday.Made naan pizzas for dinner, which we had with HM coleslaw and salad. Used up lots of fridge and freezer oddments, and there is plenty left for tomorrow's lunch too.Feels like I haven't achieved much, but the cards took ages!5

Today I am grateful for a quiet day, for Pip changing his plans so we weren't going out, for a no-presents-pact-let's-just-go-out-for-a-coffee-instead with a friend, for wrapping presents as I go along (Pip is one colour, dh is another, and everyone else is yet another), for New Tricks (even if we have seen them all before!).NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Went out with a tiny shopping list and went to some charity shops. Feel much better now I have made a decision about volunteering.
DH made a Singapore noodles for lunch using up some bits of fridge gravel, then I made a 'Boxing Day Pie' with all the leftover cooked veg from throughout the week mixed with a single (not) chicken thing, and 2 stray (not) bacon rashers, a head of broccoli, and a white sauce. Roast potatoes, carrots and greens on the side. Made my own pastry too. Fridge is now much tidier.
Got a 'festive' double duvet set for £3.50 from a chazzer. Washed and dried it, and now am just waiting for the first person to leave the house so I can invade their room and 'surprise' them.
Ho Ho Ho.
Still loving the twinkly lights and my tree.
Mad busy week working away next week so trying to get ahead of myself.

''fridge gravel lol. I love it
I am trying to ''eat down'' my freezer. Made a big pot of vegetable soup from frozen veg that has been in there for ages.Got 3 huge portions and really enjoyed them.I am going to clear and clean a shelf at a time this week. I have a grocery delivery on the 9th for stocking cupboards, and a delivery booked for the 16th where i will stock the freezer and get a bit xmas stuff, but not a lot my son is making our xmas dinner and the whole family are having a gathering at my son's. Crazy but fun party.Me and Mr Dusty,my 4 kids,6 grandkids,6 great grandkids and any significant others. After Boxing day most of the family just like to relax at home playing with kids or just flaking out over the weekend. I normally spend a lot of time reading. I always get a lot of amaz*n vouchers for xmas, and buy books. Its the only time I really can acquire books I want, rest of the year I just read kindle books or free books online. I use the xmas voucher for buying the latest offerings of favourite authors. Its 5 years since the last Harry Dresden book so all his fans are waiting very impatiently for early January. Mind you the price has gone totally crazy. Even the kindle version is an eye watering £12.99. Hardback £18.99 and paperback could be months later. So this will be my xmas indulgence. I also intend to catch up with 2 or 3 of J D Robb's Eve Dallas series. Before covid I reserved the latest in the series at the library, but I havent been back for years because of my dodgy immune system I 've kept away from library books dont want infections. So I am way behind in the series, read up to #49. There are now 61 books in the series. Think I'll pick out 3 I fancy.
J D Robb is really Nora Roberts .The woman is a machine it amazing how she turns out books, nearly all enjoyable and since of a competent standard considering she is now 76! And has sold no less than 500 million books, with 300 books in print. in print. Phenomenal5
