I have been to ‘work’ and vacuumed the floor because it was desperate but the powers that be are going to have to come up with a proper solution. They offered to pay me but I don’t want to commit as it would be an evening job and I am not bothered.
Washing from yesterday tumble briefly (20 min) then ironed.
Lots of moaning about telly…because imo it’s rubbish on a Saturday night. Thank goodness for catch up.
Table protector bought for table which is nearly 2m long. Unfortunately my tablecloth isn’t but I have inherited cloths which are v. similar (to each other) and I’ll have to use them both. My great aunts used to shop together, luckily.

Morning all,
I have lost track of the last couple of days and not really sure what I have achieved, if anything. A few small results:
- a box of glasses is packed up and ready to go to the cs. These were wedding presents, chunky cut glass, nothing special, that none of us like drinking out of. Yesterday, DH randomly said how about getting rid of them as we have glasses that we do like in boxes. I didn’t need asking twice.
- the glass cleaning cloth ended up in my hand from above shenanigans, so I made use of it and cleaned various door glass, the kitchen cupboard handles, anything that happened to get in my line of sight.
- like Narc0, I have been making steady progress on the recipe cull. Many torn out ones have been put into recycling (4 recipes for piccalilli?? I’m not even a fan), remaining ones have been out into plastic folders and are categorised, so hopefully I can find a recipe when I need it, rather than flicking through piles. I have one more pocket of printed out recipes to go, then I can tick that longstanding job off the list. Thank you, ladies, for the motivation.
- Christmas cards have been located and a list written. I obviously hit the sales last year, so enough cards for the next few years, as the card list dwindles year on year.- 2 presents ordered. I don’t have many to buy, which is just as well, as I am not yet feeling the love this year.- otherwise, it has been a tale of wallpaper removal - 3 layers in some places - getting ready for the builders in a week’s time.
Sticks a plenty for the pesky black dogs, spoons for anyone who needs them. I’m looking for some motivation, if anyone has some going spare.
I hope you all have a restful Sunday x5 -
Hi all
Long day yesterday managing an event for work, it went well but as usual after these things I didn't sleep last night. I am struggling a bit at work as a newish senior manager is trying to implement things that I really don't agree with. I have staff in my little team who are upset and worried about it and its all very difficult.
I need to get my head around Christmas presents. My two grown up boys no longer live at home and I really haven't a clue what to get them, or what they need, but I want some presents for them to open. Both say "we don't need anything" but there will be disappointment if they don't have presents on the day. You can easily spend £50 on a pack of boxers and some socks (which I know they would be happy with).
No idea what the day holds it's wet and cold and I am a bit tired.

Morning all, It's a rather damp day here today.
My list for today
Finish writing up uni slides
Plan the next assignment for uni
Laundry x 3 loads
Catch up with tv programs from Fri/Sat
Fill the DW and switch it on
Take the dog for a long walk
HHI
Do some festive shopping
Take DD to the stables so she can feed and check on her pony
Sort bags, clothes and lunches
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday5 -
Morning all - apologies for the looooong mostly off topic ramble today.
I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed with how busy November has been so have been trying to plan around it all before I have a meltdown.
Managed to sort out shopping needs with a calendar, paper & pencil, now I need a flying plan and decided to post on here as it helps unjumble my head - and cheaper than CBT and the like, which I've tried and it doesn't work for me!
Not doing much flying for the next few days, so will have to do double lots from Thursday-Sunday (subject to energy, BD and impulsive outings).
We're meeting up with members of OH's clan today, some he's never met or even heard of. Luckily we're going with OH's favourite uncle - I get on really well with him & his wife so won't feel too dazed & confused by 50 people with the same face.
Tomorrow is lunch out with the volunteering gang, am looking forward to it.
I did nearly 3 years with the CS and didn't go to any of their lunches, but have only been volunteering with gardening lot since July, so it's huge progress for me.
Wednesday am double-busy; lunch with friends then 8pm birthday get-together with aforementioned uncle.
On Thursday, I plan to do the bathroom & our bedroom in the style of 30min work/30min rest. Our friend is the guitarist in a rock band so we're off to a gig in the evening. Looking forward to that, my BFF is coming along too, so old-lady dancing will ensue. Perhaps we'll unleash our inner Riot Women 😄
Friday will be kitchen, DR/LR using 30/30 method.
Saturday & Sunday, general tidy up, dusting, vacuuming.
WM, TD & DW will fit in where it fits in, what is and what should never be.
It all starts again on Monday 1st 😱

Afternoon all. Pouring with rain when I got up and for a couple of hours after but sunny and windy now. I dried the first load of washing indoors but I washed the bathtowels a little while ago and they're blowing on the line."Roast" dinner done and eaten - turkey breast, carrots, cauliflower and gravy. DH had mashed potatoes too. He had roast last Sunday because he hadn't had them for months but they upset him so he's back on mash. Easier for me juggling with it all.Got dehumidifier being delivered this afternoon. I'm fed up with wet windows and washing taking ages but me being me I'm stressing about where to put them, how they work, will I remember what to do and to remember to empty them. If I don't have something to worry about I make something up! DH just says "oh you'll soon learn" but what I'd really like is for him to offer to sort it out. He doesn't do anything else except a little bit of washing up at lunchtime.Hope everyone's OK x4

That sounds like a huge amount to cram into one week Eltee.Everyone I know is feeling run down, tired and over-whelmed at the moment. I suspect November itself is partially responsible. It's a grim month every year, the weather's always nasty (wind and rain together, plus freezing temperatures) and it's a long way off to Christmas which from here seems like a lot of work for one day's extreme over-indulgence, with eveyone's expectations far to high, too much booze around, having to go out to meals with people that aren't particularly interesting because it's what we do for Christmas - and the expense of it all. November is not my favourite month. Is it anyone's?Clearing detritus from my desk. The desk, and the In Trays, are evidence that I didn't do much in my office for about 18 months. I'm drowning here.I did however give the en suite a quick Swish and Swipe.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.6

Evening,
My back wouldn't let me do as much as I'd hoped today because I hoovered the hall, stairs and landing and started wiping down the skirting in those places. It then decided it didn't want to play anymore :'(
I also set up the slowcooker, which I'm now waiting for the food to cool so I can't box up and freeze. I also loaded and put on the DW.
Hopefully see you all on the next thread6 -
I couldn't agree more, HB. I spent most of yesterday asleep on the sofa and after a good night's sleep too I thought I had recovered from my tiredness this morning, but I still fell asleep again on the sofa for about half an hour after walking Rosie.Honey_Bear said:Everyone I know is feeling run down, tired and over-whelmed at the moment. I have done WMx2 today, tumbled part-dry and hung on the airer in the bathroom. And I did a food shop to last us until the end of the month, also including a couple of Christmassy items. I really don't know what we shall be doing at Christmas. We are still debating whether to book a table for two at the Indian restaurant on Christmas Day, but that would preclude anybody who is left on their own from spending the day with us if they want to. It's a long time to wait until 2nd January to see my family.
I must remember to throw sticks for the BD at regular intervals, to keep him out of my way.
See you on the next thread xxx5 -
