That's one of the few jobs Belovéd actually does do Fayolle, but only after he's shoved in as many things as he can squeeze, balancing one thing on top of the others. it looks like a junk shop by the time he presses the button. And today he did vacuuming in his office because:1. I bought the new cordless thingy and he's still playing with it. That'll wear off soon, though.2. I won't do his office because it's crammed full, and there's a low tide across the carpet flowing from all four sides of the room of his stuff. Even he said it's the first time it's been done in years.I've been to the post office again and decluttered a couple of items so I can tick those jobs off my list, and was going to do a CS drop off on the way but realised I can list a set of four books on the Bay of E as a Buy it Now for those that think ahead and buy the right Christmas present for someone, as I did last year when someone listed eight the first eight Mick Heron novels - for those of us who like Slow Horses. Belovéd loves them and as he reads fairly slowly they lasted him until June.I've also sorted out the bulging bags of waste underlay and carpet from yesterday into the types of stuff they should be to go to the tip which I'll do on Thursday, salvaged a few chunks to go into the attic as more insulation and five chunks that can be whipped into mats to go in different places in the house. The current mats are over 15 years old and are all in places where there's a lot of coming and going, so need replacing. We also realised there's a big offcut that's been hanging around for 15 years that could be used to recarpet the area between the front doors which is now very tatty so we've tracked down the chappie who laid the carpets yesterday who, it turns out, is a freelancer and asked him to come back and do that area with some of the spare underlay from yesterday.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.5

I commented on here earlier but it's not showing up, and looking at my history it doesn't show that I have visited this site earlier today! Spooky! Strange because I know I've read the comments except the last two.Anyway in a nutshell, had my haircut, went for a walk, swept up back garden and scrubbed bird poos off paving stones, cut the front grass (hopefully for the last time this year).Hope everyone's OK x5

Morning all.
This week is already disappearing fast and I seem to have achieved very little, but I washed all the bedding yesterday and remade the beds, and the house has remained sufficiently clean and tidy for me not to be worried about it. I might manage a quick dust and hoover through, just so that I don't forget how to work the Dy$0n, before we go out to meet friends for lunch today.
I have finished typing up our (quite short) Christmas wish lists which my DC have asked for, and sent them off. I need theirs in return before I can do any gift shopping. They inform me that we are having our family Christmas get-together on 2nd January at DS1's house - unless it has snowed and the pass between the big hills is blocked, in which case I shall insist that they all come here. They say they will sort lunch between them, and I don't have to do anything except collect the evening take-aways (chippie or Indian) and pay for them! I have no idea what DH and I will be doing for the actual Christmas celebration, but something will fall into place, I'm sure. J the gardener is coming tomorrow and will put up the lights. That's a start.

Morning All! Very busy day ahead of me, with very limited time to do everything that needs to be done.- Finalise mintues- Finalise Jane's spreadsheet- Bake some sausage rolls from the freezer for snacks for a couple of days- Bake a clementine cake for tomorrow- Prep for telecon on Thursday pm or am- Make burgers for supperI've already knocked a couple of other things off the list but the time-crunch is that we're going to the flicks for a 2.30 matinee and I might run out of energy during that, which would be a bit of a disaster.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.5

I have dealt with the kitchen detritus, dusted and hoovered downstairs, spot-cleaned the staircase carpet, and carried the Dy$0n upstairs so that it can sit on the landing and glare at me until I hoover through up here also.
Good luck with your time/list management, HB - and enjoy the film. What are you going to see?
ETA:
I have had a lightbulb moment.
I am one of those people who can't stand labels scratching the back of my neck. Today I put on a blouse (bought fairly recently but worn infrequently) and immediately was irritated by the label, so I cut it off. There's still a label in the side seam, but that doesn't bother me. Then I remembered that I have two hand towels, at least 12 years old, that I use in the bathroom, but every time I hang them up I am annoyed by the label hanging down - so I cut them off too. Rosie had better watch where she is wafting her long fluffy tail...

You all sound very busy. My cold virus thing feels every bit as bad as it did a week ago and I'm fed up with it. I've missed 3 zumba sessions, 3 days of voluntary work and anything else I should have been doing.
On the plus side of life in general:
- being at home with no energy had meant that the kitchen is always under control as I'm getting through so many hot drinks that I keep washing up. Plus I don't feel much like eating so there isn't that much to wash up. On the domestic goddess theme, I did make some spicy parsnip soup for lunch yesterday because I fancied it, and made a loaf in the breadmaker because Mr N needed one.
- I'm then alternating between knitting (fingerless gloves for boat-dwellers, which went down well last year) and continuing to cull Mr T magazines and tidy up recipe collection.
- I sorted and recycled a lot of info on training courses I'd done before 2020 as there is no reason on earth to keep them. So that's a bit more album space in my study.
- DB visited Mum on Saturday and although she now prefers to doze in bed much of the time, they've changed her to a profile bed so they put the back up and she can watch TV or see out of the window. DB said staff are being very attentive and will make her a sandwich etc at any time on the rare occasions she feels like eating. She chatted to him a bit and seems content.
On the minus side:
- my dear disabled friend of 40yrs friendship has passed. She has been in a care home close to me for a few years and I'm glad I visited her in September. I've updated my Christmas card list and 'who to do a flower arrangement for' accordingly. So another funeral to go to.
- Went to bed determined to feel a bit better today but awoke to sleet which didn't encourage positive thinking.
Well I'm going to do more washing up now. Then make a coffee. Then maybe try some Vix vapur rub steam on the off chance it helps. Then start writing Christmas cards.
Keep warm everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.5 -
Narc0 I'm sorry for your loss.
I spent most of yesterday sat with a hot water bottle on my lower back hoping it would help but it hasn't really.
I've unloaded the DW, wiped down the sides and had a move round of appliances to see it makes things easier in the kitchen.
I've used sink unblocker on the kitchen sink as it was flowing very slowly. Also gave it a clean.
Changed towels and cloths but not enough for a wash yet.
I put the bins out last night as it was bin day today.
I've also done a quick hoover round the front room without moving furniture as my back won't allow it so I've now stopped for a bit. Having a glass of squash and reorganising my meal plan to use up bits and pieces.

Afternoon all. We had a short period of wet snow this morning which freaked me out but luckily it turned back to rain and then the sun came out and it all dried up. Still bitter cold wind though. One washload dried indoors. Dusted, polished and vacuumed upstairs and down the stairs. Picking DGD4 up from school in an hour and bringing her back here for tea. It must be Wednesday
Hope everyone's OK. Sorry about your friend Narco x5 -
