I’ve downloaded the Plum app and going to have a go at setting up different savings pots. Going to have to ask DS2 how it works though as he’s more switched on than me! Not sure about the ‘pockets’ do they count towards my ISA allowance if they’re savings accounts? Haven’t got a clue 🤣 I’m sure he’ll know what to do.

Back from my nail and massage appointment….£60. I go once a month so class this as my ‘fun’ money. My nails look pretty and the massage does make a difference to my back and shoulder (damage caused my carrying DS3 around for years when he was younger and wouldn’t walk!) Yes, i’m trying to justify myself here!
Weather is nasty today and rain has not let up at all so chucked my dressing gown over my clothes to try and warm up. Luckily our house stays quite warm so trying not to put on the heating whilst just be here.
Need to hang washing on airer then decide what is for dinner this evening.

DS2 helped me have a play around with the Plum app…set up 2 ‘pockets’ so far
    1. mortgage overpayment for 2027 - £1000 (an added overpayment I can make once a year)
    2. Product fee for remortgaging in 2029 - £1000

I will be using the pockets for short term savings goals.

Ive also set up the 1p challenge, round up’s and weekly depositor of £10 to start with.
Hoping this will help save a little bit without me noticing.

    Another expensive day today 🙈
    L!dl - £45.05
    B&M - £24
    h0mesense - £38.99
A mixture of essentials and ‘wants’ so I know I could’ve spent less.
Tomorrow is cleaning day so I’m really hoping for a NSD.

  • Have you tried the No spend thread in debt free wannabes? It is quite helpful to use to curb spending, or at least the principles. You could either join or have your own no spend goals with neccessities in allowed spends. For example all those essentials could be purchased and providing there is no wants as opposed to needs you could count it as a no spend day still. Doing something like that could motivate you to avoid spending unneccessarily, also you are doing well tracking your spends, I think I will start doing that now, Thanks.
