31.25% April 2026 Price Increase from O2

  • I've already left O2 because of this. Went through a comparison site and found a better deal that what I'm currently on even before the 2.50 increase. I spoke to someone on the live chat about keeping my number and said I couldn't keep my number if I went through the comparison site and they also couldn't match it. Even though I was still staying with O2 which made no sense to me. I threatened to leave and they didn't care so I left. I'm changing to Vodafone with a cheaper deal than O2.

I recently purchased a Samsung phone via their website and opted for the O2 2 year contract. The phone was provided by Samsung / Mobileshop Affordable Mobiles Limited.

The email from when I ordered with Samsung stated the device "is supplied by Mobileshop and not by O2. "

So if I cancel the O2 Airtime contract, will the device be "left alone" i.e. it won't get blocked??

Update: I've just noticed the thread about this stated "We've asked O2 how this will work if you took out a bundled contract through a third-party reseller and we'll update this story when we get an answer."

I assume I'll be in that group then?

Edit: I have paid an amount to Samsung for the device and no further payments are due, but it was a rather low amount - presumably they were reliant on their "referral" amount of me taking out an O2 Airtime agreement.

I would like to know the following: if I cancel my current O2 sim deal that I have with O2 [NO CONTRACT] and go with say GiffGaff, which piggybacks onto O2, would I still be entitled to my Virgin Volt benefits?

I can get a GiffGaff 5GB deal[which is enough for me] for £8 a month and no contract, plus I would still get some roaming in the EU as well. Whereas my O2 SIM-only deal [NO CONTRACT] will be going up to £12.50 a month.

I am in the same boat. Just cancelled the contract, haven't even made my first payment. Have had text confirmation and MyO2 no longer shows the account.

Super cheap 25 Ultra! Gone from being very annoyed with the increase to being absolutely chuffed.

From what I have read on multiple sites (Including a comment from a Virgin Media member of staff) - If you are an existing Virgin Volt customer, you will not lose the boosted broadband speeds if you cancel the O2 SIM. Apparently the system cannot be adjusted.

For me, I am going to try. Virgin expires end of May 2026 and I am already paying £11.80pm for an O2 SIM and this change is just ludicrous. Worse case scenario is Virgin drop me from 1Gig internet to their 512Mbps package which is still absolutely plenty!

The email I received this afternoon was headed "We're changing our services".
Reason for challenge? I can't see any service they're changing, just the price they charge for it.

I have a newish contract with a handset i purchased a couple of months ago though Samsung direct. Just requested a PAC code via text and it says the termination fee is £0! Very tempted to leave and purchase a sim only deal
  • Should you wish to stick with O2, Sky mobile through MSE have 10GB for £6pm, halving my cost so will go there.

Received the O2 email this morning, got my PAC Code 35mins later. Moved to a hew supplier 25mins after that. Stupid thing is that my MVNO uses the O2 network.
We used to have one supplier .Vodafone for broadband and two mobiles, but moved one O2 and after the nationwide outage earlier this month, moved other mobile to EE.
So no longer all eggs in one basket. Risk of losing all three Internet and mobile at one time unlikely.
