Hi all Potters! I hope you've all enjoyed the extremely hot week and will have a really good weekend.
as possible- I hope everyone is healthy and not too low in spirits, however, if so, do get very well soon!
- Meanwhile, get well soon, and for now, love and virtual hugs from us all here at SPC ❤️
Thanks very much indeed Ant, it really is good to be back here. Ooh poor you, fancy having no air conditioning when traveling by train! 🥵 Times when you're in need of compensation are also a pain, but at least the money can go in your pot.
We're in Shelton Mallet hospital with T having had the checkup of his second cataract op done and by golly was it hot! He's having another eye test at our optician in 3 weeks, it'll be such
a relief for him to get a pair of glasses made that do the trick for both finished eyes. As far as she knows mine will have to be done in 7 months time, It's has been excellent, so clear. I love cricket but not in this heat!!🥵Amazing how some folk just love the heat while others hate it!!
It's so good to be back here with all my friends Siju. Sadly, today has been painful with the sciatica, but then I've only been taking paracetamol as codeine really upsets my stomach. The Dr has now given me pain patches - which take effect after a week of putting it on!! 😯 I've bought some Ibuprofen though I haven't taken any years and can't remember whether I could tolerate them or not, time will tell. He's also told us the sciatica can take up to 3 months until it clears up, oh what a joy!! 🙄
Brilliant potting LMD!!
Good for you Tattypud!
Oooh another lovely lot LMD!!
Excellent potting ThriftyPrincess40!!
We will be off for a few days Monday til Friday!Enjoy a really WONDERFUL WEEKEND, folks, and a good week!

Sounds like you have plenty of ailments to put up with @Sue-UU but you have this lovely way of counting your blessings and staying positive. Anyone I know who has had cataract ops have been amazed by the results, in a positive way, so wishing T all the very best with his, and also your good self when it’s your turn. You’re an all round good and kind person Sue.
My potting still going very well, in a ‘little and often’ kind of way. Such a relief for me that the extreme heat has passed for the time being. I know some love it, but once we get to 30 degrees or more that’s way too hot for me. Cricket in Taunton on Friday night was lovely for me and my friends as we were in the shade.
Hope everyone is in good mental and physical health. We all have tough times but they don’t last forever. That’s the same with good times as well of course, so we have to make the most of the good times when they’re here

Hi all, hope you all made it through the very hot spell (depending on your location). On Thursday, against the official travel advice, my best friend Emma and I travelled to London… to see Take That at the London Stadium on Friday night (so yes it was essential 😉). Just in case you didn't know what happens when a train is running at still fairly high speeds on heat-affected rails, it's like turbulence on a plane but without any sudden drops. Unpleasant. But we made it in one piece to the fiery pit that was London, only to find that the red weather alert had been extended to Friday. Fortunately the rules for the stadium had been relaxed somewhat, personal bottles of water were permitted, as were fans, they reduced the price of the water they were selling (and we all know they were still making a profit on it), and bag searches were brief because they wouldn't be wanting their staff/marshals being stood in the sun/heat any more than the paying customers, so it was good to see that common sense was being used. The concert was fantastic, I'm not even a dyed-in-the-wool TT fan but they are so entertaining and put so much effort into it. It's my first time seeing them, first time in a big stadium like that, and it has overtaken my first time seeing them (2017) as the best concert I've ever been to. My friend was also playing keyboards for Belinda Carlisle who was the first support act (The Script were the second support) so that was nice as well. Not so nice was finding that all the escalators had stopped working at the tube station when we got back afterwards so we had to climb back up to street level to get back to our hotel. There was also a loud but brief storm in the early hours but it didn't make much difference!
Not exactly moneysaving given how many bottles of water we were buying as we mooched around London (well, I was buying supermarket's own at £1 a bottle while Emma was buying Evian not realising it was expensive - and she's usually quite diligent herself with money 😂) and on the morning before we left we booked tickets and a hotel for Ministry of Sound Classical at the Royal Albert Hall in a year's time!! 🤣
Oh, and tomorrow we're going to see Def Leppard but they are actually playing here in Sheffield so not far to go (for them or us!).

What a week I've had so far! Sunday night my neighbour called to say she had a bull and 3 cows on her drive. We dashed over to help out and managed to get them in a field next to her home where there were more cows and calves from the same herd. The farmer, who is also a neighbour came home at 11 pm and said he had to move them out of the field we had put them because when they had escaped they had left behind their calves. So we were running around in the dark trying to round up about 20 cows/calves and 1 massive bull!
Monday night we got a call to say DH's father was having breathing difficulties and needed to go into hospital. DH set off about 10 pm to pick up his parents and didn't get home until 5.30 am. To put the icing on the cake, I have a nasty throat infection and have lost my voice so couldn't go with DH. Thankfully they pumped FiL with antibiotics and he was well enough to be discharged yesterday.
Praying for a more peaceful rest of my week and potting £5.
