eToro - So after successfully receiving the bonus shares last Friday and attempting to transfer the funds out, my transfer was blocked. For the last week I have been providing various statements and proof of identity etc. 

Today they have contacted me to say I'm not eligible for the promotion and they will reverse the bonus... a pain but not entirely unexpected. 

However my account is now in a 'blocked' state and I can't logon to eToro, yet they still have my deposit!

Anyone else in the same boat? I don't hold out much hope of a quick resolution as their customer service is dire.

My £5,000 has arrived back in my NatWest a/c.

The $669.59 funds from the bonus shares are sitting in my investment account. My GBP wallet still has access restrictions in place so I can't transfer there. If I try to withdraw from my investment account I get a message to say the request could not be submitted and to contact customer support.

Good you got your £5k back, you can relax as everything else is a bonus..

Are you on desktop? Is there a 'GBP ac' when you scroll down below the 'Add Funds to GBP' 'Add Funds to USD' 'Create Wallet'?

Is the bonus in there in GBP? Can you 'Send Payment' to your bank?

Does your account actually show 'restricted' anywhere?

Cos' I don't see 'Restricted' anywhere - just w/ds keep getting 'rejected'.

I've done the Bank Statement thing last night, not heard owt yet.

It looks like you're in the initial stages of a restricted account. At this stage you're not informed of this but your withdrawal just keeps getting rejected. A support ticket will have been raised internally but you won't be able to view it.

My experience...

Friday: Deposited from NatWest via open banking and tried to withdraw to Bank of Scotland. After that payment was returned, tried to withdraw to NatWest. Then received text from NatWest to urgently contact their fraud dept. Sorted that out and they confirmed request was from eToro and they would pass back confirmation the funds were OK.

Kept trying over weekend but all withdrawals failed and marked cancelled. Looks like this is the stage you are at.

Monday: Online chat and spoke to real person who confirmed the account was restricted and told me I'd get a phone call. In the call I was told I'd get an email. In the email they asked for proof of funds which I then sent them.

Tuesday: They removed £5,000 from my GBP wallet via a debit "adjustment".

Wednesday: They removed £495.66 from my GBP wallet via a debit "adjustment".

Thursday: Returned £5,000 to my NatWest a/c. Put $669.59 into my eToro Investment a/c.

Now: Access to my GBP wallet is still restricted and it tells me so if I try to add funds to it. My investment account doesn't appear to be restricted and it looks like I could trade the $669.59 or add funds. However, I am blocked from withdrawing these funds probably due to the block on the GBP wallet.

It seems to be taking about a week to be able to get your deposit back. This may happen without further intervention if they process their internal ticket without needing to contact you. Who knows?

Yep, same email and account access blocked.

Have you checked your bank a/c that you sent the funds from? Mine showed up there unannounced yesterday.

I recommend anyone who has received the bonus and wants to withdraw it should do so now TO THE BANK A/C THEY FUNDED FROM, and then close their account.

Same here, going to refer the OH but the other 4 codes probably remain unused :-(

That's reassuring that your money turned up in your funding account. No sign for me as yet, but will keep a watch. 

This deal is great for anyone who has managed to get (and withdraw) the bonus. But I echo your advice, I consider myself very financially savvy and I've had relationships with many financial institutions over the years, but eToro really are the pits. The customer service is virtually non existent, and never before have I been made to feel like a criminal in this way.

Same here, going to refer the OH but the other 4 codes probably remain unused :-(

As soon as my sister used the code and then transferred the £1000 into her account we both got our £50 Instantly credited to our accounts .


The £50 bonus goes into your rewards section at bottom of the main page of your chase account.

Shows as pending but can move straight away 
Just transfer from your rewards pot to main chase or savings account
