    I applied 4/11/25, accepted and opened 5/11/25, card and pin arrived 13/11, great fraud prevention that, therefore waiting 7 working day seems about right, obviously santander card being printed in the same room as cahoot bank savings account ID letter and password 🙄

    If there is I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints directed at Santander from the forum but seems highly unlikely to be honest.

    I'm up to 41 transactions now, but all old school card at shop/pub/station etc. Just waiting until a few days before the first Edge statement date, then it'll be back to a cashback or points credit card as I don't like using our main bank account for everyday purchases.

    Done 40 transactions just to be safe, will probably do a few more over the next few months but for now will go back to using my main bank account. I noticed Apple Pay was tagged differently to card which says 'purchase' so I made sure I did all my shopping by using contactless or the physical card. I note that I did have a Santander account back in 2022 but I did get a different Santander OLA reference so fingers crossed I'll be okay.

    Why do you feel the need to make 40 transactions to be safe? The T&C's clearly state you only need to make 30.
    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.
  • I’m making sure I focus on normal day-to-day spending (supermarkets, etc) and I’m spreading the purchases across different vendors over several weeks.

    I’m actually very confident that Apple Pay is fine for this:

    1. When a payment clears, the app explicitly shows “Associated card: DEBIT CARD -*XXXX” on the transaction. If I used it in a physical shop, there’s no realistic argument that it wasn’t a genuine purchase.

    2. When Santander gave 1% cashback on the Edge account for debit card spending, I always used Apple Pay and the cashback tracked perfectly.

    Just my take.

    Because some of the transactions were showing as Apple Pay instead of Purchase and I have received a few refunds on some transactions, so wanted to be safe. I know the T&Cs clearly state that I only need to make 30 transactions, but it doesn't mention anything about Apple Pay.
