Hello,
I received a email/text yesterday from my phone provider "3" telling me that the 3G network will be closed on 27th Nov.
I currently use a Samsung Galaxy M13, which l think is 4g ready???
But I'm not sure about the Sim card in the phone.
When l go on setting, there is no available 4G just 2G, 3G, and LTE/3G/2G, which it's currently set at
.
So do l need a new 4G sim or phone or both???
I'm not very technical and this is my only phone.
Thanks.

LTE is 4G and will still work when 3G is turned off. Also, the M13 supports VoLTE so you'll be fine.2

The only possible snag is the SIM. If it’s ancient, say, over 8–10 years old, it might be a 3G-only SIM that can’t register properly on 4G networks.1

Ask Three? They should provide a 4G SIM if yours does not support. I suspect of the phone offers LTE as an option you should be good.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. I will probably pop into one of their shop tomorrow but wanted some basic info, so I'm not just sitting there not knowing what they are on about when trying to sell me something l don't need.sausage_time said:Ask Three? At 4 years old I'm sure it will be 4G enabled, but definitely wise to check!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. VoLTE literally means Voice over LTE. When three stop the old style phone calls and start using Voice Over IP (like home phones that are currently being migrated to VoIP) your phone will still work. You might need to enable it in the settings.
Did you get the SIM with the phone or did you get it seperately? If you got it with the phone everything will be fine, if not and it's years old it might need replacing.
If you received a text from three advising you of the 3G being switched off then I would have expected them to tell you they would have to replce your SIM and they haven't done so I think you'll be ok.1 -

Yes, l bought the sim separately from the phone. But in the meantime l had to transfer the number over to a new sim(about 4 years ago) because it was the old style size and wouldn't fit.
3 did say on the email/text that my phone will probably support 4G but my sim will not.0 -
Since this is a money saving forum I think it's worth pointing out that 2g will still be around for a few more years. This could be acceptable to people that make little to no use of data.1
