Badmemory microwave is definitely going to be used Christmas Day.It was awful dfwb321, it was really busy and stuffy. The place that the youngest likes to eat was shut, so ended up with just chips🤢. I had a jacket potato with cheese and beans. The youngest card wouldn’t work, checked it when we got home and their account was almost empty. Que stropping and slamming of doors. Refused to talk about it blah blah blah🤦♀️. Eventually calmed down and I have confiscated the card for the time being until a plan is put in place. I have FPA , so I’m not being mean folks. They have had lots of chances and made lots of promises. But as per usual the youngest always has to do things the hard way. This has gone on for 4 years now and they need to understand the concept of budgeting. I don’t want them to move into supported housing and because they can’t budget, staff dictating when they can support them to go and buy things. I would like them to be more independent with money. Budgeting tools are too complex. So we will break it down to really simple easy steps. Hopefully they will grasp it, I think a lot of the youngest problem is they lack confidence in their skills and doesn’t want to be in a shop using the calculator on their phone as that not what people do apparently. They actually only had enough money for their new wheelchair because I was squirrelling money away from their benefits into a account( that they couldn’t access)otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to have a new one. I really want them to crack this as the original plan was to remove the FPA eventually.Sorry for the rant🤬,I need pudding

Aw rant away. Will you have FPA when they move out? I've supported students at college who live in supported housing and they were lucky they had someone guiding them there with a budget in most cases (not that all listened) and made it normal to get your calculator out in a shop and work out what was being spent. Does your youngest have a banking app on their phone so they can check before they spend? I do this every time I spend because I don't have an OD and am not ashamed to do so. Youngsters always seem to fear judgement of others sadly...I hope your youngest grows out of that.
I'm avoiding meadow hall till next year now 🥴🤣. It's too busy at normal times of the year for me nevermind the run up to Xmas.
Hope you get some pudding 🍮 😋Emergency Fund- £717.773 -
Hmmmm … I can understand why you are concerned if they can’t budget. Living independently will be very, very difficult for them if they can’t nail it … I suppose the good thing is you know the truth of where they are at with it before the ‘damage’ has got too serious.
Are there simple resources around anywhere that could help with them getting their head around it?

Dfwb321 ideally I’d like the FPA to be removed but at the moment I can’t see this happening. They do have the banking app on their phone but they often forget to check it. Academically in relation to maths I would say they are at 1st year junior, maybe lower. For example yesterday I asked them to add 9+5=. They shouted random numbers at me literally in a panic. Once they calmed down they managed but this involved me using my fingers to count. Wouldn’t use calculator for some reason.KK I’m looking into resources at the moment. It’s just an up hill battle.
In other news flippers are packed and just will need to wait in for them to be collected today 8am - 6pm. Really hope it’s early in the day, but knowing my luck. Friend that I arranged to see today is now coming to me for a cuppa. The cheap own brand stock cubes have not been a hit, will try another brand but we might have to go back to our usual. Same for the porridge oats. Mr🐞 not impressed with the texture or the amount of milk needed to get the consistency he likes. However the marg is ok so will stick with that. Olio is a great app and we’ve not bought bread for Mr🐞 for about 2 weeks. The youngest however will only eat one type of bread ( not claggy, so doesn’t cause choking issues). We are enjoying the fry your poppadoms at home rather than the more expensive ready fried version. I just reuse the oil for something else. The youngest prefers the own brand popcorn. The own brand Greek yoghurt is ok but it’s more liquidy so prefer my usual brand. To make my usual brand cheaper ive added my own honey. The cheaper sunflower oil is a keeper, but I’m undecided about the olive oil. The rice is also ok, so will continue with that too.
Think I will try and get a bit more sleep 😴

I don't know if it helps, but I have found some poppadoms can be grilled rather than fried - I was surprised when my dad suggested it but it does work well enough - they come out drier but really good.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
I also microwave for just under a minute, but wet with water first - this was advised in cooking instructions on one brand but not the brand I use now, but still works wellMortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%

Sounds like I need to experiment abit more, although they puff up nicely and are really crisp they not good for us due to the oil. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.Love 🐞

I have waited in since 1pm for a company to pick up a package. They said between 8am and 6pm yesterday and then today gave me a more specific time and they have still not arrived. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh🤬. Breath…… inner calm, breath…. inner calm . Messaged the buyer. The next time I can be in all day is Wednesday as the car is going in for its MOT tomorrow.Met up with my friend this morning for a cuppa and she had some good news. She basically employed someone to do some building work for her and they haven’t been back for 10 weeks. She paid them a large sum of money up front and they have left it a building site. She got in touch with trading standards, who advised her to speak to her bank as she has been scammed into paying money for an incomplete job. After a couple of weeks her bank has reimbursed her the full amount. I’m so pleased for her and he is an utter bar stool. My friend has long term terminal cancer so was having her house and garden adapted, so he was well aware of what he was doing. She now has to find someone to complete the work. I can’t quite get my head round why the bank decided to reimburse her.Listed 5 more items for sale. Been looking at our budget etc. So the funpot currently stands at £61.69. Last week 14th -20th November we spent a total of £269.89. A big food shop which did have a number of Christmas goodies in it, compost for the plot and a meet up with my aunt. The same week but 2024 we spent £1031.87 the bulk of that was paying for us to go away for Christmas.Right obviously they are not coming, so need to think about tea.
